I had high hopes for this game, after completing it I had a few gripes. Especially with the squirrel boss. It is horribly designed, for example it can fly cards at you while spawning a machine that shoots at you while spawning a card that follows you all while constrained to the cards flying at you. It’s literally impossible to navigate, I literally only beat him because of rng. It was atrocious. Not being able to change controls, atrocious. No achievements. Having to skip cutscenes every time you re-try a boss. Movement is clunky and slow. However, the aesthetics are good. The premise is good. It has a good vibe. Just needs a lot of re-thinking of the mechanics and boss dynamics. If it ever goes on sell I’d recommend it. But only being able to kill that squirrel magician boss by pure rng and it not spawning a ton of ♥♥♥♥ on you killed this game for me up to the end.3 found this helpful
Been a long time supporter of Pigeon's Mission, and the game has really come a long way. Right off the bat its a love-letter to retro games, and the spark of childlike whimsy can be found in every corner of the screen. There are still a few things I personally want to see in the game such as, more levels, collectibles, improved replayability, and much more polished platforming. However, the game has significantly improved from its last demo, and I appreciate the time, effort, and love that the devs are giving it. Highly recommended for young kids just starting out their gaming journey!2 found this helpful
I tried this game out on the flight to Mexico yesterday and I was having so much fun. Everyone sitting next to me was intrigued by Pigeon's Mission. I got pretty good using the keyboard, but I do wish I had a formal controller to use. The game isn't that easy, but it's also not frustratingly challenging, which is what I'm looking for. I'm looking forward to my flight back home and I'll keep playing then after this work trip.1 found this helpful
Backed this on kickstarter and was worried, it wouldn't get funded. Was glad it got funded, very fun game so far! Haven't gotten too far yet, but I know I will and it is a very good game!1 found this helpful
I will eventually beat this game, but I just wanted to write a super early review and say this game is a 10/10. I can tell the kid love Mega Man and a little bit of Mario, but this game is so Capcom coded it's not even funny. So, I am going to lean towards Mega Man. And the birds down attack reminds me of the Nail in Hollow Knight, which I think is freakin cool. The song in the game intro/launch screen makes you want to play the game even more. The is a great entry level for kids to jump in and get to gaming without any worry at all. Also, the birds parents sorta reminds me of Bruce's parents for some reason. Either way, the color, the graphic and the audio of the game are fantastic. Kid keep of the good work. And LASTLY, having your own voice in the game as part of your branded logo is insanely well placed.
Disclosure: I backed this game on Kickstarter. Review: A sweet and brief game that is easy to Pick up and play, with a sweet heart. The controls are very intuitive, making it fun to move around in the levels, and the levels themselves are varied with new things popping up so that you’re never bored. You can definitely feel the family passion in the game, both in regards to the old-school gameplay style and the story about a boy trying to save his family. Is very sweet. I recommend this game and hope that John and Logan may make more games in the future
