About Pivot of Hearts
Pivot of Hearts is a non-monogamous romance visual novel with a simple card game built into it. It takes place in the city of São Paulo and tells the story of Wén Xiàn, a Taiwanese-Brazilian game developer who, after a long period of isolation, starts finding chances to open his heart again: he suddenly reconnects with Etsuko, someone important from his past, and forms an unexpected bond with a new colleague, Cauã. As he navigates through an exciting TTRPG adventure, heavy metal concerts, magical-boy dreams, and the usual young adult suffering, Wén will have to reexamine his old notions of love and play his cards right to achieve true happiness.

Why not both? In Pivot of Hearts, you jump into the mind of André Wén Xiàn (aka Wén, aka edgelord magical boy). Taking place in Brazil during June, Wén finds himself neck deep in his work. You see, Wén is a programmer and he is actually developing games for a small, young indie game studio. They’ve been working on a simple RPG game called Healing quest for half a year, but Wén has found himself drowning in his task backlog. Thankfully, the studio was able to hire someone new. Someone that is an artist and can lead the art team as the new lead artist; taking some weight off of Wén’s plate and helping the studio become a more well oiled machine. Don’t worry, it’s not all work here. Bárbara, one of Wén old friends, texts him out of the blue to catch up and offers him a seat at her table for a TTRPG called Castles and Champions. Remembering all the times he played with Bárbara back in the day, which by the way she’s the game master, he agrees. Little did he know that it would allow him to reconnect with someone he thought he would never see again. As you progress through the story, you’ll join Wén as he hangs out with friends, deal with the stress of an upcoming deadline as he…13 found this helpful
A cute and funny visual novel. While it has an overall "slice of life" feel, it's main focus is on different, and possibly more enjoyable, ways to nurture and grow your relationship with others.9 found this helpful
A super charming brazillian VN! Get to know the city of São Paulo by the beautiful backgrounds and vibe to some brazillian rhythms in the soundtrack, mixed in with some 90s anime nostalgia. The characters are lovely as well. Overall, great art, music and writing, an easy recommendation for VN fans!7 found this helpful
I'm extremely bad at words, so if you want long and detailed reviews check out the other ones here <3 This game is a gem and I adore everything about it, if you're even slightly interested i'd really recommend getting it. I won't spoil any of the story but the things Wén went through is very relatable. I am polyamorous and has never played a game with anyone "like me" before, and the romance in this game made me feel so whole and loved for who I am, while at the same time being hard-hitting and making me cry several times. Both of the romantic interests are incredible, they both have depth that well and truly makes them feel like real people with their own pasts and lives. The "side" characters are all cool too, and I loved the sweet interactions with them and learning more about them throughout the game. The music is beautiful and really pulled me into this games' moments, making me feel like i'm really there. I love the attention to detail all the way through, from the care taken for adding accessibility, the quick bug fixes, the amazing art all the way through.. and everything else! I hope this game gets the attention it deserves eventually, and i'll be keeping an eye at what D…5 found this helpful
Great! A sweet story that moves along at a great pace and is really well written. So many unique little personal and cultural touches throughout. The art and music compliment it perfectly. Despite being all about choice it does a good job of preventing choice paralysis and letting you move through things as you please without regretting decisions.5 found this helpful
Good game. Story and art was tasteful. There are four chapters and the first three were excellent, but the last chapter was a bore for me. The fantasy game the friends play I skipped past most of it bc I didn’t care for it as much, but I applaud the dev trying something diff a unique in a visual novel.1 found this helpful
