✦ AI summary

Pixel Devil is a retro-inspired platformer that divides players on its execution of classic NES-style gameplay. While some appreciate its nostalgic appeal and challenging level design, most criticize the clunky controls, frustrating platforming, poor pixel art quality, and confusing progression that requires backtracking to other stages for specific items. The game feels unpolished overall, with lazy graphics, uninspired enemy design, and combat mechanics that need significant refinement.
Retro Inspired Game that Misses the Mark
Would you rather watch than read? Me too: https://youtu.be/FlHO5x0TSXk Pixel Devil is HEAVILY inspired by games like Megaman and platformers of old. While it's a great idea on the surface, it unfortunately falls really flat when you get into how the game controls, functions and plays. The platforming is frustrating (and not in a good Super Meatboy kind of way), the level design and thought is bonkers (You can get far into a stage only to find out that you need a specific item from ANOTHER stage in order to progress) and the combat needs work. Honestly, there are other problems with it as well that just add up to an unpolished game. Combat feels clunky when dealing with enemies and half of them have some kind of invulnerability period that you are always waiting on, bosses are uninspired and boring and collecting the powerups is a chore. tl;dr - Inspired by the games of old, without any of the fun. An unboxing for video games! I do these for people who hate reading and want to see the gameplay: https://youtu.be/FlHO5x0TSXk

The game's quality is very low: - music is primitive; - level design is random and uninspired; - no interesting game mechanics; - pixel graphics is done in very lazy manner: even nes games from 1987 have much better detalisation. I would recommend to stay away from this product!

Nice NES-era-style platformer. If it was on NES back in the day, it would be a straight hit. If you happened not to be poisoned by modern day gaming expectations, you would love it, and you'll enjoy it even if you do, this one doesn't hate you like some old NES titles do
