✦ AI summary

Players criticize Pleasure Kingdom for having a confusing and poorly contextualized story with bizarre dialogue that's hard to follow, alongside an overly simplistic card-based combat system that becomes tedious quickly. Common complaints also include the game's brevity, lack of narrative connection to adult content that appears only in a gallery menu, and design issues like unavoidable one-shot battles with no recovery options. While some appreciate the hybrid visual novel and card game concept, most feel the game lacks the depth, narrative coherence, and value expected for its price.

For the sake of transparency I should say I only played for 20 minutes but I knew by then I wasn't going to enjoy this game. The game is overall clumsy and confusing. The story and dialogue is bizarre and hard to make sense of. It's all clumsily thrown together without any context, I can't make any sense of it. And battles are randomly triggered after every conversation, even friendly ones! The gameplay might be entertaining at first but it is rather simple, just use buff cards on yourself and use the rest to attack, not very fun after the first minute. And the sex scenes aren't even implemented into the story, they appear in the gallery randomly after conversations without any notification whatsoever. You might enjoy the art and sex scenes but if you're expecting interesting dialogue and story you're gonna be disappointed.

Completely unintelligible story, you can get yourself into situations where you character is one shot in battle with no way to go back and try something different, and h scenes are just gallery content with no connection to the game.

Pleasure Kingdom, developed and published by Tails Games, is a bold and unconventional title that merges the storytelling style of a visual novel with the strategic depth of a collectible card game, all wrapped within a mature, adult-themed setting. Set against a backdrop of a fantastical world at war between humans and mystical beings, the game invites players to navigate a complex narrative while engaging in card battles that require careful planning and tactical execution. The combination of genres offers a fresh take on adult games, striving to deliver both an engaging story and gameplay that demands thoughtful interaction. At the core of Pleasure Kingdom is its card-based combat system, which serves as the primary gameplay mechanic intertwined with the unfolding narrative. Players progress through a series of levels, each designed to challenge their ability to build effective card decks and adapt their strategies to overcome increasingly difficult foes. The strategic layer is built around synergy and timing, encouraging experimentation with different cards to unlock new ways of defeating enemies. This approach gives the game a level of replayability as players explore various…

Roughly like a 40m game, I walked away to get a snack after I'd realized the primary part of this game 'seemed' to be missing, It wasn't, There's a few short completion based scenes in the menu gallery, Nothing someone couldn't do in less than a week, Even on sale it's really not worth the money, art isn't even really 'good'. A refund surely for me.

Pleasure Kingdom is a card battle visual novel hybrid with one weird gimmick. At the end of every scene between multiple characters, you are given control of one of the characters and must choose between two possible options on what they will say or do. And these choices will gradually accumulate and swing the outcome of the story. What is the story you might ask? From the one playthrough I did, the story is basically a witch's plot to assassinate the human king. And depending on your choices, can lead to success or failure. The gimmick where you don't control one specific character unfortunately makes it difficult to connect and invest yourself with the story, setting or characters and ultimately, most of my decisions were made on a whim. The way dialogue is written also makes it tricky to follow the story initially. There is also a huge disconnect with the card combat system and story. At the end of every scene, after you make a dialogue choice, a combat scenario with two characters occurs, irregardless of what was said or if it even makes sense. Fortunately, the game is pretty cheap but... I think thats honestly the only real positive.
