Surprisingly awesome

Gameplay is very straightforward and easy to understand, I barely got stuck or confused while figuring out where to go next. I only played a little (I got to the subway tunnel) and I think its a pretty easy game so far. Some of the enemies are fast and jump out of nowhere, which is scary and fun. The story is interesting. I also like the simple graphics. What I dislike about this game is the fact that it's very dark. I understand that it's on purpose, but I didn't find it scary, just annoying. It was the reason why I turned it off. My eyelids are hurting from how much squinting I was just doing. I wish it was adjustable, messing around with the settings just makes the screen look foggy or grey. Of course, I have to mention how similar it is to Cry of Fear. Cof is my favorite horror game, and i think it's really creepy/sad/disturbing, especially the first playthrough. Clearly, Project Crypt is taking direct inspiration from it, which is what got me into this game. I'd like to compare these two. Alright so this game is free, it's similar to Cry of Fear and Afraid of Monsters but runs on GzDoom, it has a strong start to mid game where you mostly just go around the apartments, construction sites, city streets and blast all the enemies you come across with various firearms and also melee weapons. But things start to get dragged out in Act 3 and Act 4 is definitely rushed, if you're looking for some meaningful endings to the story of this game, then you won't have it. This seems like the developers' first game and not like it has a big budget so obviously it's not so well made, even when compared to Cry of Fear, Project Crypt feels more like a Doom clone with cutscenes thrown it as an attempt to build a story that gets nothing answered at the end, you simply have more fun running around shooting than expecting some plot twist or character back story. I'm ok with the gunplay but for anyone interested, the reload animations and even switching weapons are slow as hell, the revolver and m4 beneli is definitely the slowest one to reload, the devs went as far as adding a rocket launcher into the game only have it used one which sucks too.
