About Project LUX
The crime... is murder.
Our story takes place in a court trial, set in a futuristic world where most humans have cyberbrains. The defendant on trial is an agent who coordinates with artists to create the data for cyberbrains to interact with people’s emotions. The victim is a girl artist named Lux. The jury has to investigate what really happened by reliving the memory data of the defendant.
From the creative mind behind the WORLD END ECONOMiCA series, this title is Spicy Tail’s new adventure adopting HMD in a VR space. Project LUX is a "story-oriented" work for VR, in contrast to recent VR works, which can described as "experience-oriented." Born from an idea upon reading Dr. Naotaka Fujii's book, "Kakuchō Suru Nō" (Expanding Brain) in 2014, Project LUX is a VR animated story that puts you in the perspective of the agent as he interacts with Lux. What will be revealed from reliving the agent's memory data of what transpired...?
Project Lux features five "episodes" that bring this VR adventure to life, featuring the voice talents of Aimi Tanaka as Lux and Teruaki Ogawa as the agent. Lux is brought to life with the beautiful character designs of illustrator Luna Tsukigami and the motion capture performed by Aimi Tanaka herself.

✦ AI summary
Players praise the expressive animations, voice acting, and charming premise, but criticize the game as a static, choice-free visual novel experience where you sit in a chair reading text with minimal interaction. Technical issues are also widespread, including broken controls inherited from its VR origins, viewpoint problems, crashes, and menu bugs that make it difficult to play even after workarounds, leading many to feel the $25 price point is not justified.
This game is quite broken, as in it fails at the one thing its set out to do, and that is to tell you a story. More on this below, but first getting some other glaring issues out of the way;
CONTROLS
This steam version is a port of some basic VR platform, and it shows. What little hints of control it gives you, are pointed at the wrong buttons, which meant I had to resort to googling how this game is supposed to function on a valve Index headset. Ontop of that, the game was originally programmed for headsets with only 3 axis of movement (rotational only), which means that if you move your head out of its original position even the slightest, you will be obscured by a wall or looking at your own neck. They could have solved this simple issue by constraining the camera but it seems they were only after a quick buck.
CONTENT
Probably okay.. if you speak fluent Japanese. The main problem I experienced with this game was how very broken/lazy the english subtitles are. Some of the dialog gets cut short, or even gets completely omitted all together, making the story ring hollow. I dont fluently speak Japanese, but even I know you can not subtitle a long winded dialog …9 found this helpful
The expressions are expressive. The animations are indeed, very animated. The premise is promising. The voice actress does a remarkable job. but the gameplay? Tragic. You sit there in a chair for what appears to be the entire game. No choices, just reading the story as it is fed to you through the medium of subtitles. Occasionally you look at something to advance the never-ending wall of text. That's it. This game was released in 2018, but is competing with titles from 2006. Everything that i didn't list above is just miserable. This game is a chore to play, and for $25 you can feck right off.3 found this helpful
She hugged me <3 Anime VR is the future and I want more!! If the game does not open or crash here's how to fix it. Make System Variable name: OPENSSL_ia32cap value: 0x200000200000000 (Works great on the meta quest 3)1 found this helpful
A cute VR experience for anyone who just wants to follow a story.
I like the animations, playful character she talking too... Overpriced game, when on sale for few hours? Not worth it for most people. Idk, I at least enjoy it, and have it foa the memes in my library I guess as a bonus. >U<
Sadly it was unplayable. Initially it would not open at all. Uninstalled, Reinstalled, Rebooted, etc. Normal troublshooting wouldn't work. Found a work around to open the game online by adding a new system variable to my PC (OPENSSL_ia32cap, 0x200000200000000). The game opens now with that, but it was still unplayable due to other bugs/glitches that were present involving the menus and the viewpoint. I don't make a habit of requesting refunds for games, but in a case like this it felt justified. Steam denied the refund however due to being over 2 weeks since purchase. Bought it on sale for $10 in January, but didn't try to play until April. Guess I have to just take the loss and consider it a lesson learned. Test your games right away folks.
