I canot think of a game that is more deserving of a "neutral" recommendation than PQ:immortal. "Puzzle Quest: Immortal" is an updated version of the 2007 original. It is an odd choice for an update, as the same developer also released the more recent offspring: "Gems of War". So PQ is both older and younger than its own son. How's that for time-travel ? The mechanics have remained the same, the plot is the same and so is the dialogue, but the graphics have been souped up. Like its predecessor, PQ has only ONE save slot, which continuously overwrites itself. Essentially this means, a single wrong choice can paint you into a bad corner. This was one feature that could have stayed comfortably in the past. PQ is a match-3 game, through and through, with some additional RPG elements thrown in for flavor, but the core remains a question of matching gems. If you are looking for a pure RPG, I'd give this one a miss, and go for something more recent. However, if you like match-3 type games, or have a nostalgic spot for the original, this might just hit the right spot. Unlike the younger "Gems of War", PQ is a "premium" game. You pay a one-time price, and then you play the dookie out of…

Played the original a lifetime ago, and always remembered it fondly. It is probably the most quintessential Match 3 game around, IMO. So, buying the remake with everything included was an immediate impulse buy. It's a perfect casual, save anywhere, highly addictive short burst, but easy to get back into, game that has become the mainstay on my Steam Deck when I only have a few minutes to play, such as in doctor's offices, waiting for shows or streams to come on, ect. Has a lot of very engaging parts to it, from character development, an actual storyline, stronghold building, RPG elements, equipment upgrades... Even just loading it up to see how it looked on the Steam Deck, I ended up spending the whole night playing it. The price is more than reasonable considering the amount of content and playtime you'll get out of it, and if you own a Steam Deck then it's pretty much a must-have game. It's solid, addictive, highly entertaining, yet can be played in even very short bursts and still have a feeling of progression, and its simplistic gameplay makes it so easy to get back into no matter how much the real world gets in the way. Truly a masterclass game when it comes to just sim…

I completely missed out on the original 2007 classic back in the day, so I went into this game completely fresh. I am absolutely hooked. If you think this is just another generic mobile-style match-3 game, you are completely wrong. This is a full-fledged fantasy RPG wrapped inside a brilliant puzzle combat system. What elevates the combat is how your character's class spells interact with the puzzle grid. In most match-3 games, you are entirely at the mercy of lucky gem drops and random RNG. Here, your spells completely mix up and alter the layout of the board. Whether you are destroying specific gems to trigger a cascade, converting colors to fuel your next attack, or locking down enemy skulls, the spell system gives you an incredible amount of strategy and direct control that completely mitigates the usual luck-of-the-draw frustration. If you are remotely interested, just buy so they are encouraged to make more of these games.

Nicely polished, always a fun time killer. Still randomly crashes like the original. Oddly enough Its almost like a nice alarm that tells me its time to stop playing for now.

理想的三消游戏,非常棒。 This is what I’d call an ideal match-3 game. Really great.
