About REAPER

FEAR THE REAPER

REAPER is a medieval-themed first-person shooter, drawing inspiration from such classic titles as Doom, Quake and Hitman. Play as Death Incarnate, and follow the guidance of a mysterious spirit, tasking you with collecting the souls of a series of targets, and condemning them to the Hell below. Following the "bite-sized boomer shooter" ethos of DOSMan Games, REAPER is the culmination of a year of hard work, trials and tribulations. What we have here is a short campaign, secrets in every level, a diverse enemy roster, and boss fights aplenty. There are also many voice cameos -- see if you can guess who's who!Cover Art by Kromenoi \\\\ Bret Ware

Fun game, but the save files keep getting corrupted.
Overall = 6/10
A fun and short melee focused shooter which ends up being too repetitive and became stale towards the end. The enemy designs with their comedic sound bites was good, there’s plenty of enemies (and gore when you kill them) and although the plot ends very abruptly, the narrative is simple yet effective. Unfortunately, the level design was very hit and miss with some levels nothing more than long empty corridors and rooms or massive open arenas, but some were varied in their style and they had a good mix of textures and colour.

It's alright. I like that it's very easy to modify the game's files, making the experience more fun. The creators didn't put as much effort into this game as they did in the others made by them but you can still enjoy it even though the levels are bland and the weapon & enemy variety is small.

Plays terrible. Very few health pickups and ammo even on easy. Mostly had to use my scythe on the first two levels, saving ammo for archers. The scythe has terrible hit detection. Once you get into a flow it's fun but the limited resources immediately pulls me out. Stopped playing after 30 mins.

Adorable little FPS using an independent engine. Unlike other DOSMan games, this one is very melee-focused. There are more weaknesses here compared to other games - there could be more levels (especially after introducing a couple new weapons I didn't have the full opportunity to appreciate!), and one level in particular was a little too open (if you get lost after the third key, try following paths, that worked much better for me). Still, kudos to the art design, the difficulty selection (which is the first time I've seen it in these games!), the ingenuity of many other parts of the levels (verticality is employed pretty cleverly here) and the voiceovers. If the downsides sound like they're a bit much, try one of the other DOSMan games first: Quartermain and the Cult of Cthulu is probably at the top of the list. That's the one that hooked me.
