REAPER

A throwback to the simple FPS games of yesteryear. Play as the grim reaper, tasked with collecting the souls of specific individuals, harvesting any who get in your way to your target. REAPER takes place in a medieval world, many of the enemies being villagers of different types, members of the local guard, and even the lord's army. Much of the combat is melee in nature, enemies being quite easy to dispatch with your base scythe, even easier with the broken sword upgrade. There are ranged enemies, although it is quite easy to dodge their shots to close to melee or whip out your wand to pop them with a single shot. Chest can be smashed for healing items, barrels for ammunition for your wand. I really enjoyed the concept and presentation of REAPER, even though it was a very easy playthrough that you can wrap up in about an hour. I'd recommend checking this one out if you are a fan of old, simple style FPS games from the DOS / early Windows days. [h1]Overall = 6/10[/h1] A fun and short melee focused shooter which ends up being too repetitive and became stale towards the end. The enemy designs with their comedic sound bites was good, there’s plenty of enemies (and gore when you kill them) and although the plot ends very abruptly, the narrative is simple yet effective. Unfortunately, the level design was very hit and miss with some levels nothing more than long empty corridors and rooms or massive open arenas, but some were varied in their style and they had a good mix of textures and colour.

Forcing the player to go that long without a ranged weapon in an FPS is just bad game design. I'm not even sure that the game has any weapons other than the scythe that you start with, because in the 22 minutes that I've played the game, I wasn't able to find one.

Really short game, finished it in an hour without trying to speedrun it; still, I loved it a lot, gonna be replaying this every so often. Voice acting's funny and can tell some passion went into this game. <3

Fun game, but the save files keep getting corrupted.
