About Reaper of Immortals

My reaper rise! My reaper rage!

In a world ravaged by wars, death and agony, where kingdoms have fallen and cities were burned to ashes. In the aftermath of the Great War, the Mortal races struggle to rebuild what was lost and reshape what was destroyed.

Amidst the chaos, in the depths of agony and despair, bones were forged, and by the Eternal Flames they were ignited. A deathless and hollow reaper emerged from the fire.

All forms of life rejected him, even the dead, as if the world itself was fighting him, the reaper had no choice but to proceed forward and no one will stop him, that until he finds the ultimate truth.

Fight your way through hordes of enemies.
Reap everything that stands in your way.

You can change your talents by changing the blessing colors. Fair price. オーソドックスな作りの2DACT。特徴としては、主人公の髪の毛の色を対応する女神像で祈ることにより変化させ、その色に応じた能力を獲得できるというもの。価格もボリュームを考えると高くないが、セールの方が良いかもしれない。 Mini-video >> https://twitter.com/hhfcurator/status/1672271066373447681

Nice platformer/metroidvania game made by a single developer. Controls with an Xbox controller felt really good, precision jumping and timing was not a problem. Thoughtful level design, good amount of backtracking but does not feel like a chore because the individual levels are not huge. There are new game elements introduced gradually as you progress through each area. Dashing, double-jumping, etc. Bosses are a bit tough but, in true old-school platformer style, once you figure out the attack/defend pattern, they can all be defeated. Throughout the game you can use different "flames" which effect your life and strength (and ability to warp). There is quite a bit of story, reading it all and playing to both endings took me about 4 hours or so. I unlocked 15 out of 25 achievements in the process of playing through it naturally, not achievement hunting.

Reaper of Immortals released a week or so ago, if you missed it. It's got some nice retro art, plenty of level variety, boss fights, and tons of lore. It could benefit from more polish (control, art, writing) but has a lot to offer. Reaper of Immortals is a decent action platformer with switchable characters. While it lacks polish, its core gameplay and concept is solid and there's plenty of lore to dig into. UPDATE: Changing my rating to "Recommended". Latest updates add some QoL features that make the gameplay a bit more fluid. The game’s broken engine and bland aesthetics hide a decent yet optional story most won’t even bother with. A shame because the idea would probably work better in a different form. Not much is shown in the beginning in terms of story. In one moment, you're a skull soaring out of a pool of bones, and in the next, you're a skeleton holding a scythe. Every piece of story can be obtained through talking statues and rare characters. You won't understand anything if you ignore them, but the words can't be sped up or skipped, so you'll have to watch the entire thing every time you activate a statue. The amount of text is insane, especially when you defeat a boss and they start their unskippable rant with walls of text. Despite issues that I'll explain later, it's odd to devote so much time and effort to the story and then hide it behind optional content. The game is a typical action platformer, with enemies to kill and platforms to jump on. The double-jump and dash make things much easier. What distinguishes the game from others are flames. For example, one fi…

Reaper of Immortals is a playable level-based 2D platformer that suffers from some jank, which may be to do with the engine it was made in. Its the sort of solo dev project you might expect to find free on itch.io when exploring indie games. As far as that sort of thing goes, it really isn't that bad, but most of the games even on there are not the sort of thing I could recommend vs. the plethora of other games out there on Steam that feel more fluid and fun to play. I think it takes a certain kind of person hooked on raw B-grade stuff to play and enjoy something like this. The dev has been very responsive to address bug reports, it's clearly a labour of love. Reaper of Souls is "OK" but I don't recommend it. I went through the first 8 or so levels (part-way through world 2). I liked that I could dash from the start of the game ..and multiple times while airborne! Level design was decent enough honestly, so was the music. I've encountered similar games that just put one crappy 20 second loop in, fortunately not the case here. The melee enemies could be dispatched just by walking up to them and mashing attack, because you swing faster than them and when you hit them yo…
