About Red Faction®: Armageddon™
You're humanity's last hope as Darius Mason fighting an ancient evil that's terrorizing Mars in this action-packed shooter featuring the franchise's signature destructible environments and the powerful Nano Forge weapon. Battle across the ravaged Martian surface and underground in a campaign for survival, or test your skills in cooperative Infestation Mode and competitive Ruin Mode multiplayer.
When the massive Terraformer that supplies Mars with its Earth-like air and weather is destroyed, the atmosphere turns to chaos, super-tornados and lightning storms engulf the planet. To survive, the Colonists flee to the underground mines and build a network of habitable caves.
Five years later, Darius Mason, grandson of Martian Revolution heroes Alec Mason and Samanya, runs a lucrative business from Bastion, underground hub of Colonist activity. Mining, scavenging, mercenary work--if the job is dangerous, Darius is your man. Few sane people now venture to the ravaged surface, aside from contractors like Darius and the smugglers who run goods between the settlements.
When Darius is tricked into reopening a mysterious shaft in an old Marauder temple, he releases a long-dormant evil and unleashes Armageddon on Mars. As Colonist and Marauder settlements are torn asunder, only Darius and the Red Faction can save mankind. The battle will take them across the storm-blasted planet--and below it, to the very heart of the unspeakable threat.

What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players praise the game's satisfying destruction mechanics and fun combat with unique weapons, noting it works well as a linear action shooter despite technical issues like crashes and compatibility problems on modern systems. However, the main criticism is that it abandons the series' signature sandbox gameplay and open-world destruction in favor of a linear, short story that feels more like a generic third-person shooter, disappointing longtime fans who expected the freedom and environmental manipulation of earlier Red Faction games.

Fun TPS with some unique mechanics and cool weapons. The only issues are technical; crashes and weird cutscene behavior were the most prevalent. But this feels like a good evolution into the 360 era from the original games. Most criticism of this game i saw, is based on a comparison with Gurellia, which i have not yet played.
I loved this game at the time. Played it for real and was lucky enough to get the multiplayer achievements back then. But after replaying it a couple of times over the years, I finally realized it's a pretty bad game. The only thing going for it is the building destruction. Story is bland, VERY short and very linear.
It’s a bootleg Dead Space. Cool, but not like the last game. There’s no sandbox, no open world—just a worse Gears of War without cover mechanics and a completely linear story. It runs smooth on today’s hardware if you have the patience to adapt it to think you’re using Windows Vista. If it realizes it’s running in the future, it crashes. Besides that, if you prefer linear games, this is a good game to sink 11 hours or so. Nothing groundbreaking, but it is cheap on a sale, and does the job to cure boredom in a pinch. The negative review is due to using the Red Faction name, as the majority of people, such as me, think of that name with the idea of running around playing with physics. But here you have a strict line to follow, not an open area to explore.
No Geo-mod like in the past where you can change the terrain itself, however the building destruction is still phenominal and the story is.. Well, It's a'ight.Great fun to fight the enemies and bugs, you can blow heads off and punch the limbs from torsos on the creatures. It's a blast of a game and worth the money, might come close to %100 the achievements on this
Red Faction: Armageddon is a surprisingly fun shooter with an amazing story and satisfying destruction mechanics. Unfortunately, it feels very outdated by today's standards. I recommend it only to longtime fans of the series. If you're new to the franchise, there are much better modern alternatives. Not recommended for most players.
