About Regenesis

The game

Years ago an alien plant scattered spores through all the planet. This has caused the flora and fauna to mutate. Years have passed and the remaining survivors have gotten used to the new world. Follow the story of Isak, Kaeo and Ola, members of a group of survivors settled on the underground of a city.

Regenesis is a tactical rpg game. You, the player, have control over three diferent and customizable units. You will need to gear up in your base and equip your units with a variety of equipment. When you feel that you are ready, choose a mission and start the hunt! When you get into the mission you will fight against powerful mutated animals. Each hunt will be diferent, adaptation is the key if you want to survive.

To top it all, Regenesis uses a dynamic timeline system to decide the order of turns. When the turn of a hunter starts you will have to choose your actions wisely. At the end of a turn the unit goes back to the start of the timeline and starts moving at diferent speeds. The speed will change depending on the number and the actions it has performed.

What makes Regenesis unique?

 • There are not rigid turns, instead turns are ordered dynamically in the timeline.
 • Fight against powerful mutated creatures to survive.
 • Customize your hunters to fit your playstyle.

"Regenesis" a poorly made student project, a 2D retro pixel turn based strategy game in isometric view. I guess if I was teaching students to make games, the first thing I'd teach them is that 3D graphics made 2D graphics obsolete in the mid 1990's, and that even mobile phones can do 3D graphics now, so there's no excuse for not doing the job properly. What do you do in the game? It's a weird sci-fi/fantasy turn based strategy game with some inventory management/upgrading as you fight weird alien monsters in a plodding turn based gameplay style. It might even have been a great success if the graphics were from this century. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content lock…

Regenesis is a free, student made tactical RPG with nice graphics and general post apocalyptic atmosphere. It's hardly the most involved, but neat little free projects always deserve a thumbs up.

Really loved the post apocalyptic setting and art style! The mechanics were a little complicated for me. Still had some fun! Its free so give it a shot.

It's a really good tech demo or student project, but not really a great gaming experience with the limited content available. it's two battles where you kinda try to figure out the mechanics as you move along. It's pretty, but not something you'd miss out on if you skipped.

Very solid bones for what could be a full-on great game. It's a turn-based tactics game, and while it may not be groundbreaking, it definitely does what it does pretty well. The graphics look like a gritty version of "Moonlighter". The game does have a bit of depth, with a light crafting system, but honestly the game needed more achievements, since I was able to 100% the game without doing anything beyond the three first missions (that's including the tutorial), and I didn't have to craft a single thing. If this were a fully-fledged game, it could be a banger, but being a student project, that obviously will not be happening. Full points for effort here.

Love this style of game! Huge fan of post apocalypse too. Too good not to get for free.
