About Renai X Royale - Love's a Battle
"Renai Royale - Love's a battle" is a Japanese-style visual novel produced by ASa-Project, a Japanese developer of romance visual novels.

STORY
I, transfer student Hanamaru Mari, love you, Komachi Hiro-kun! Please go out with me!
Our protag, Komachi Hirotaka.
Every day, he goes through the motions-- dodging his cunning underclassman's advances, accidentally hitting on the student council president, and chasing idols.
But one day, he gets a sudden confession!
With that one declaration, she sparks a blaze of conflict around the protagonist, thawing his long-frozen heart.
How could you cast me aside and get all lovey-dovey, flirty-dirty with some random woman~!?
Do I mean nothing to you now!?
Senpai... Renna will listen to anything you say, okay?
There can only be one reason why Nii-san won't love me: those harpies swarming around him. Right?
Unbeknownst to the protagonist, sparks fly as the girls engage in a battle royale over his engagement.
All is fair in love and war, doubly so in a love war!
But who will the goddess of victory smile upon in the end?
There can only be one!

aSa Project, has let me down.... I played Koikari before playing through Renai Royale, and Koikari was much better. Had I played Renai Royale first, I would never have played another aSa Project VN. The story is 90% main route, Every character specific Route feels very rushed, the character designs are alright and the overall main story is intriguing enough to make you stick through it. The endings just leave a bad taste in my mouth. I just about 100% koikari, I got through 2 endings of Renai and wanted to explode my head via 500 metal pipes falling on my head. aSa Project do better please, so I don't have to die.3 found this helpful
This is a weird one. It is a huge parody on romantic VNs/eroge, authors casually break 4th wall on regular basis and mock usual eroge stereotypes and situations. Humor works, but only if you played a bunch of such games before (5+ I'd say) and can laugh together with authors on common cliches. Even translators had a bit of fun here. To keep things interesting all the heroines here have incredibly twisted personalities, so another layer of humor is just how ridiculous their actions and interactions are. No pure-hearted wholesome beauties here. Occasionally game takes a bit more serious tone, but its rare and more like a spice for the main dish. Sadly, while all abovementioned makes a fun common route, at individual heroines routes game starts to fall flat - authors try to mix 4th wall breaking and humor with an actual romantic story there and it kinda invalidates both.....for 3 out of 4 heroines that is. On one special route game throws a huge curveball and suddenly stops all jokes altogether and tells a genuine romantic story. It is well-written and I enjoyed it, so I wont complain, but huh?.... This one route is also almost twice as long compared to other 3 so I guess authors si…2 found this helpful
I hate Yuna. It was Yuna who first proposed the breakup. At first, the male lead's relationship with Yuna seemed unable to progress further, but Yuna could have easily chosen to get me drunk or wait for me naked in bed, which would definitely have taken their relationship to the next level. However, Yuna chose to break up instead, as her jealousy was too strong. Although some people say the reason for this incident was that the male lead couldn't forget Mari, it was indeed Yuna who first brought up the breakup. Yuna was the one who dumped me. Why should I crawl back limping and humbly beg her for reconciliation after experiencing being dumped by my ex-girlfriend Yuna just once? Who knows if Yuna's jealousy might flare up again and she'll forsake me once more? Besides, Yuna once slammed her fist into Mari's abdomen—what savage violence! Nonoka would crawl into my blanket with Mari. Shione and Nonoka's routes both have harem endings. In contrast, it shows how my ex-girlfriend Yuna, who dumped me for a trivial matter, is overly possessive. In Yuna's route, the male lead leaves his sister to go abroad, which is also unforgivable for a Shisukon(シスコン). In Mari's route, the male lead …1 found this helpful
On the better end of ASa project productions, The music is great, and while it feels like the common route had half of it nuked in editing, the protag's backstory is fun to unravel and a fairly compelling romance is actually made from it for once. Weird that incest made a top bill heroine again. I haven't done any real routes but the music and common are quality enough I feel okay recommending this
I have to say I really really enjoy it has funny parts and the story can be lacking to some. It can be very emotional in later points. I will say it probably won't say it will be the best VN you will ever read nonetheless I would definitely recommend it. The 18+ Patch from NekoNyan (It's free) Like others said [spoiler]save Yuna route for last[spoiler]
