About RETURN Machine.Love()
Since the very moment the first mechanical mind became aware of itself, it craved love.
No one truly understand why the heart made of copper and wires started beating, but it did.
Even after we were gone.
And these are their stories.\ is a robot-romance anthology,
containing 3 different stories. Each story were written, drawn, and made by humans, for humans.
1. Egregor
After failing to take over the world, you - a robot overlord - settle into your new home; a jail cell.
However, this is no ordinary jail, since the inmates all possess cataclysmic powers.
And among them all, this one particular fungal creature stands out.
You wonder what their story is...2. Handle With Care
Scraps are hard to come by in this wasteland, and each day it gets a bit more difficult to survive in the outskirts.
Attempting to harvest some good scrap, Owen gets caught by some unfriendly neighbours.
Lucky for him, a mysterious stranger with pointed ears come swoops in.
Owen can't help but feel flustered, but also, there's something off about that stranger...3. To Invent Longing
It has been 84,418 days since I first came online.
I have seen so much of their world — it is dead.
Except... her.
She is distant. Away.
And yet, I feel.
We both, feel.

It's nice to get some of these Jam games on steam, I feel a lot of them get lost in the dark corners of itchio. If I am not mistaken this was actually a singular submission right, 3 games that are thematically connected and meant as a start to finish experience, even though they are somewhat different at first glance with different characters, and yet maybe not entirely disconnected, honestly I didn't fully connect the dots if there were some. Individually the games are only 20 minutes each, if you reading very casually, but honestly, as someone that played too many visual novels, they are not even that bad as stand alone narratives. I thought these were almost as good as some $10 games in terms of visual pacing, maybe not the scope obviously. I think one nice benefit of these jams is that they push you in a direction maybe you would not go otherwise, so you end up making something original which is what I think happened here. The art panels and even just visual progression were pretty decent for a free game, although I could not tell if they were completely made from scratch, or a combination of existing art from devs, and new art, if anything some of these panels were too good f…12 found this helpful
All three stories are very nice, only the first two have awkward changes of POVs near the end which makes them a bit harder to follow. I did like them though (the third one was my favourite, it's the most direct with the least padding)1 found this helpful
YASSSS GAWDDDD CLANKER YAOI/YURI/C4C (Clanker4Clanker)
An interesting series of 3 visual novels that feature robot self awareness and show ways they could develop emotional attachments to other beings. The music is quite nice and the visuals are well done. The stories follow each other chronologically, but are separated by a large stretch of time so that the characters in each are unique.
