Ruby and The Lost Crystals

It was a charming demo for what it was. However, it was unclear the developer's intention. School project? Demo for a game they actually hope to make? PR project for company that got axed? The puzzles were pretty simple over all but at one point I did manage to do something they hadn't imagined. This left the floating puzzle unrecoverable and had to start the entire thing over. I don't have any real complaints abut the game but wish it had been a bit more clear about just how incomplete the project was.

I love the games art style but, hate the fact that it doesn't have a settings menu and it's been on steam for a while now so am taking it's not a mistake that there's no settings menu and it keeps on crushing as well

Ruby and The Lost Crystals is a charming little puzzle adventure that I liked because it makes me switch between two characters to solve problems. I explore ancient ruins with Ruby and her companion, using their different abilities to open paths and uncover the lost crystals. I enjoyed the feeling of working out how the two characters could complement each other rather than simply searching for keys. The puzzle design is built around physical interaction with the environment. I can move objects, swap them around, reflect lasers and use magical projectiles to activate different mechanisms. I liked that the puzzles usually give me enough information to understand what I should be doing without making every solution completely obvious. Switching between characters is the mechanic that gives the game its identity. Each character approaches obstacles differently, so I need to think about which one is best suited for a particular situation. I enjoyed the moments where I had to combine their abilities because those are the puzzles that make the most of the central concept. Gerat fun game. Finished the game. Full gmae takes approximately 1.5 hours. If you haven't played Ruby and The Lost Crystals give it a go. Just be aware there is no save or auto save so you have to finish it in one sitting or through the day. It took me 1.5 hours. If you did it rigjt you should smash the LAST BIG CRYSTAL at the end and they tell you theres 3 more but then up pops an on screen message saying you have restoredt he crystals thanks for playing. the game does continue on after that but there's nothing to do after that unless you want to explore, but therei's nothing to colelct and no achievements so not worth continue playing after end game. Nice graphics though. Acceptable run speed,. Challenging laser puzzles. Laser puzzles go from easy to medium difficulty with rotating levers and using special skills to change the colours and using mirrors (later on) to rebound shots. 8/10 final rating.
