About Runeroots TD

Strategize With Runes

Each tower has two rune traits. Pairing towers within the same rune trait grants them powerful bonuses. With 8 different rune traits, there are plenty of options to mix and match. Plan ahead to build the ultimate combo!

Roguelike Elements

In Runeroots TD, no two runs are the same! The enemy path, resources, perks, and even the enemies you are facing are randomized. Learn your enemies weaknesses, and react by building the perfect defensive setup, or use your rune powers if you are in a bind!

Choices Matter

There are a variety of upgrades you can pick throughout each run. Perks modify a specific tower type, items enhance a single tower, and Relics which are global modifiers drastically changing the way each run is played. Do you make one super tower? Or spread the perks across many different towers?

Two Unique Game Modes

1) Adventure Mode lets you chart your own course across 3 acts. After every 5 waves, you get to pick your next destination. Should you visit a rune monument to gain a rune power, or grab a treasure chest instead? Or visit the blacksmith and craft upgrades for your towers!

2) Mastery mode gives you a massive tech tree to progress through, constantly evolving your town's technology so you can progress further and further! How many waves can you defeat?

Rebuild Your Home

Level up your town as you play! The town evolves over time and unlocks new features to use on your next run.

Mechanically interesting. The gameplay isn't bad. The biggest problem for me was the visuals, everything is quite ugly.

Its a cute game, with some nice added mechanics, but overall it has alot more downsides compared to its predecessor[Rogue Tower] It's roguelite mode only extends into 3 acts with 4 fights each so a total of 12 fights then everything resets the Its "mastery mode" is the better mode with extending waves, and an endlessmode. BUT the mastery mode meta board is small and lackluster in the unlocks There's also a blacksmith option to permanently upgrade tower, however The biggest downside of the game would be the scaling; its all over the place The metaboard almost adds nothing The difficulty spikes between each is manageable, but blindsides The smith meta-damage scaling goes up by 1% each upgrade increase the cost by 1 each time. this is fine, but there's a cap on material earning at 50 if you're lucky. The endless mode is the biggest dissapointment where it stops expapanding the board at 50[mostly] with an expansion at every 5 so 10 expansions on the map. the enemies get tankier and healthier, but drop the same amount of gold under almost every circumstance. there's almost no reason to try the endless Even if you think the endless upgrades balance endless, …

Honestly surprised this game isn't more popular. It's fun and brings a new style to the TD genre while remaining enjoyable. I would highly recommend it, especially since its less than $15 (even if it is 1 penny off from $15 lol)

I want to say neutral because I'm torn, but I guess that for me means negative... Maybe the rogue-like aspects would be ok, but once you start trying to figure out and deal with the effects on top of the what tower you get rng it's just too much and not fun as a tower defense :/. Despite that, I will leave this positive because I still think if this caught your attention at all it is worth giving a try.
