About Salt 2: Shores of Gold
Salt 2 is a pirate themed open world game with a focus on exploration, crafting, survival, and RPG elements.You wake up stranded on an island and must find resources to build a raft and head out to sea. Set sail across the world solo or with up to 5 friends. Your ship will act as your traveling base as you explore in any direction you want. Discover islands filled with hundreds of hand crafted caves, ruins, pirate forts, and other mysterious places. Follow the main storyline to uncover the mysteries of the world or join various guilds and earn a name for yourself. Craft powerful weapons and armor, hunt and fish for survival, level up your character unlocking unique skills and talents for your gear, and decorate your ship, making it your home at sea.
What Makes Salt Different Than Other Pirate Games?
In Salt 2, we've prioritized the PVE experience, allowing you to play completely solo or cooperatively with friends.This isn't a game with naval combat, but is focused on PVE content such as decorating your ship, going on quests, and exploring islands with tons of unique locations. You don't have to worry about being attacked by other players while exploring the sea and losing your progress. The core gameplay is built around the solo and cooperative experience. A huge focus has also been put on making your ship your home base at sea. We've added over 100 different ship decorations you can place anywhere on your ship. Salt 2 is about pure freedom. You start in the middle of a vast ocean, pick a direction, and set sail across a procedurally generated world. Navigate the seas with a compass and sextant, using map coordinates as your guide to new locations. Discover uncharted islands with ruins, pirate camps, seaports, and over 200 unique dungeons all filled with loot and lore. Even though the islands are procedural, our points of interests are hand crafted with unique secrets, puzzles, and design.Travel With Your Base
Your ship is your home at sea. While exploring the world you will find all kinds of items to craft and decorate your ship making it unique to you. You can place items virtually anywhere on your ship and customize it as you see fit. While traveling the sea you can also craft items, cook food, and fish for survival.Fish and Hunt to Survive
You’ll need food to survive. Grab a fishing pole and toss a lure overboard to catch some fish or grab your bow and head into the woods to hunt some wildlife. Once you've got your ingredients, it's time to start cooking. With over 50 different meal recipes to discover, you'll constantly be on the lookout for a new recipe that will not only keep you alive, but give you passive benefits as well.A World You Can Live In

It's a casual sailing simulator, nothing more. If you bought it thinking it will be a pirate game you will be disappointed. There isn't even much to do on the sailing front.6 found this helpful
I want to like this game. I want to PLAY this game. I picked it up for co-op with my wife and son. Unfortunately, there is one little problem with co-op play that ruins the whole experience. You cannot enter or exit ANY location in the game unless ALL players are together with you. Yes, in this co-op open world game your group has to follow each other around everywhere, all the time. It ruins the experience and sadly makes the game unplayable. Maybe I'll play it solo and actually enjoy it, but as of now this is a huge disappointment.3 found this helpful
Oufff... there's a lot to say here. I forced myself to finish the main storyline and I probably shouldn't have. Salt2 is a very very basic game, in all aspect. Graphics, gameplay, world building, puzzles, it's game making like we did in the late 1990s early 2000s. If you are intimidated by videogames, are looking for something to get your feet wet, and the theme appeals to you, this game might be for you. The price is friendly too. In many ways it feels like a student project where the teacher forgot to tell them to stop. At no point are you going to forget you are playing a videogame. Everything is generated, fake and planted. Unique locations and named NPCs repeat all over the place, completely breaking suspension of disbelief. Ebony is a metal that you mine. The progression is the blandest possible, with only numbers going up and nothing changing. The ship are undifferentiated. The puzzles are spelled out and obvious. It's all fetch quests and kill quests. It's 95% sailing and walking. The world is empty and only exists for the player. Technically it is ok, and the ambiance has its moments with seagulls and sunsets. But if that's what you are looking for, turn to Black …1 found this helpful
game can be demanding on the computer, graphics could be better and multiplayer setup is a mess. i personally prefer a game where it is easy to setup multiplayer instead of all players involved needing to make the exact same world with the exact same seed and than the "host" invites the players. graphics wise id expect more from the game instead of cheaply made 3d designing and believe the company could have done way better on designing if took the time and effort for it. as for the gpu it can some times be heavy on the gpu when hosting the game. had a few times the host crashed due to gpu issues. overall id say the game is only if that worth no more than $5 USD and that is on a high price rating. overall feel though is about $1-$2 worth of value for effort, issues and complications.1 found this helpful
