About Sandloop

In the lands of Iman, a festival is held every year. During the celebrations, a special ceremony takes place where the young are given important clothes and the Mindil —magical cloths that hide long-forgotten powers. This year, it is Hura’s turn, but her experience will be very different from the ones before. Strangers attack the village, trying to steal an ancient power. In the middle of the chaos, Hura escapes and finds a loom that gives her magical powers through her new clothes. With the blessing of the tribe’s elder, she sets out on a journey to learn new abilities, stop the invaders, and uncover a mystery that weaves itself with every jump.

✦ AI summary

Players consistently praise the smooth 3D platforming, charming visuals, tight controls, and interconnected world design, with many finding it a worthwhile experience for fans of the genre. The main criticisms center on the time loop mechanic feeling repetitive and underutilized compared to games like Outer Wilds, along with technical issues like performance problems and a strong desire for an in-game map or compass to aid navigation and quest tracking. Some also note the English translation could be improved and that sidequests are quite challenging, though most players feel the core platform

Gameplay is tight, responsive, and doesn't overstay it's welcome. Very cute character design and narrative premise ^ - ^

Really enjoyed this game and how tight it is, even if the main part is somewhat short. Stylistically, a nostalgic, retro world and experience - definitely getting some of "The Big Catch" vibes. A good recommend from me for "Pseudoregalia" and platform-metroidvania fans.

Very fun little game. Good movement, good level design. Great art and vibes. Terrible translation to English, though nothing that makes objectives too hard to understand. Hit an ending in about 3 hours. Unsure if there's more if you're completionist, and probably will never find out since the sidequest are pretty dang hard. Still, very much worth it for those 3 hours!

Fun 3D platformer with a tight, interconnected world. The map was fun to explore and had enough interconnectivity and clear visibility so that you don't get too lost. The time loop is interesting. It can add some stakes to different quests and things, but I'm not sure if it added much compared to other time loop games like Outer Wilds. But frequent shortcuts and metroidvania-style powerups make it so you aren't stuck redoing progress too much, so I wouldn't stay away from this game just because of the time loop aspect. Overall, the controls are tight, the platforming is fun, and I'd recommend this game to fans of 3D platformers.

TL;DR: A beautiful platformer that would benefit from some quality of life and performance improvements. Honestly, not bad. The platforming is pretty good, the time loop mechanic is good but gets repetitive, the music is neat, and the abilities are extremely useful for navigation. There's no combat, just pure platforming, which I enjoyed. However, I've noticed severe performance issues within the game, mainly when loading the world at the beginning of each loop. Alongside that, the world is amazingly crafted but a world map or compass would be beneficial for navigation/returning to quest markers. Other than those, 100% recommend Sandloop.
