The late 19th-century Japanese setting is beautifully styled, but the core gameplay is a pretty standard, paint-by-numbers hidden object experience. While the narrative keeps you somewhat engaged in the detective work, the puzzles and mini-games are incredibly easy and offer zero real challenge. You also end up backtracking through the exact same environments way too often, which artificially pads out the playtime. It’s a decent, cozy title to mindlessly click through while watching a show, but don't expect a deep or gripping mystery adventure.

Hidden Object game with some of the jank you can expect. Not an amazing story but not horrible. If you want a quick Hidden Object, would be worth it. If the genre isn't your thing this will not change your mind.

Fun nostalgic game :) Didn't experience any bugs, a bit odd with screen resolution because its an older game, but that's to be expected.

I enjoyed the game. To do 100% achievements took me two play throughs. I enjoyed the puzzles along with the hidden objects. The story was great.

Season of Mystery: The Cherry Blossom Murders is a classic hidden-object mystery that leans heavily on atmosphere, period intrigue, and narrative motivation to elevate what could otherwise be a straightforward casual experience. Developed and published by Square Enix, the game is set in late nineteenth-century Japan and follows Irene Pemberton, a woman who refuses to accept the official explanation surrounding her husband’s death. From the outset, the story frames the investigation as deeply personal, grounding the puzzle-solving in emotional stakes rather than abstract problem-solving. The narrative unfolds gradually as Irene navigates foreign streets, diplomatic spaces, and secluded locations, piecing together clues that point toward a far more complex conspiracy than a simple suicide. Themes of deception, smuggling, forgery, and murder emerge organically as new evidence is uncovered, giving the mystery a steady sense of escalation. While the plot is not filled with dramatic twists at every turn, it maintains a consistent sense of curiosity and tension, encouraging players to continue not just to complete puzzles, but to see how the truth finally comes to light. Gameplay is roo…

This HOG was a snoozefest I'm ngl. It was boring, slow, and not fun at all. I wouldn't waste my time on this game. The actual hidden object portion of the game was horrible. Way to many scenes where it wasn't needed and finding the objects was a headache because of the pixelation where I couldn't make out what the hell the object was even supposed to be. If you could zoom in, the experience would be 10% better.
