One of those games that makes me glad this medium exists and reminds me why I love it. Found it in a bundle on Itch, but felt like I had to get it again here too. It's a bleak and heavy game. Trauma, cycles of abuse, destruction of nature, a system and society that enables hurt, and an end of our world brought about by a few rich evil men with fragile egos. The game hits hard, with multiple parts making me tear up and there being a particularly gut-wrenching sequence near the end that made me feel a real heaviness in the pit of my stomach, even on a second playthrough. It's brutal and it's real. Yet, the game is also strangely serene. There is an eerie beauty in this desolate, ruined, sorrowful world where a flower still dares bloom through the cracks. There is some sense of hope still. "It wasn't always like this... It didn't need to be like this." It's a short game, but it has a lot to say and I found it to be absolutely gripping. The atmosphere and aesthetic are phenomenal, and are great for framing the writing, which is the key strength and focus here (it being a 'game poem' after all). Sometimes abstract and draped in poetry, sometimes veiled as a fable, sometimes blunt …

I really liked this experience. User interface is very beatiful. A lot of pixel art, very inspired by old school Win 3.0 and Win95. There is also beautiful blurs when you play with the camera. The controls are a little bit chaotic but since you play flower it makes sense. Could be a little difficult for non-gamers. I sense a little influence from the game Flower. The vibe is not upbeat. It's pretty grim. But it's ok, that's the vibe. Don't play this if you have ecoanxiety or if you are triggered by sexual assault and online harassment discussions. I really liked the end [spoiler]when you are on the dying ship[/spoiler].

This is a short yet heavy-hitting experience as you float around a decrepit city with somewhat rough controls. It's hard knowing what you're getting into when buying this game, but it turned out to be such a heart-wrenching ride as you collect memories of what happened to the Earth, humanity, and a poet who tried to warn everyone. Both equally beautiful and grim, I'm glad I had no plans after playing this game so I can sit in my room thinking about life and birds.
