soulless art, soulless story. Honestly the whole plot is just "Oh I have to go into this room, oh hello new person. Oh you need me to go to a different room. oh well at least I have yo- oh? I don't see you again. that's okay I'm sure this new friend will las t past the next room- oops nope they are gone" The player character has basically no autonomy as he is basically forced into different scenarios, sure he sometimes gets to pick some dialogue but outside of preventing straight death from picking the wrong option. You don't really do anything to move the plot, the plot moves you.

Blooming Ashes is a short story game set in a post apocalyptic world that has been devastated by a pandemic called Lavender. I play as Char, and most of the experience is about making choices and seeing how those choices change what happens next. The game is presented more like a graphic novel than a normal RPG, so I am spending most of my time reading, looking at the scenes and deciding what I think Char should do. I like the basic idea because it keeps things simple and puts the story ahead of complicated gameplay. The setting is probably the most interesting thing for me. The Lavender infection spreads through the air, and the world is split between survivors, infected people, the military and a group of anarchists who have built a religion around the disease. I like that these groups do not all see the situation in the same way. The military is connected to a corporation called S.U.P.S. and has advanced technology, while the survivors are simply trying to stay alive. The infected are also divided into conscious and feral types, which gives the setting a little more to work with than just having standard zombies everywhere.
