About Shmup Love Boom

Shmup Love Boom is a modern styled Shoot-Em-Up with anime influences.

Includes multiple visual novel style cut scenes and dialogue featuring some beautiful anime women and some classic hard faced men in suits and an evil alien threat that wants to destroy Earth once and for all. Following in the footsteps of games like Xenon; Shmup Love Boom is a detailed bullet hell intense top down shooter experience.

SYNOPSIS: In the far flung future humanity lives on the brink of war with a group of neighboring aliens. When the Sol barrier is breached only one pilot is close enough to do anything about it. Once he is geared up with one of the beautiful symbiot warriors his ship is ready for action to fend off these alien marauders and take the fight to them for the first time in a decade.

Just bad. My main issue is the controls. It is so slow to move. If you plan on buying make sure it is less than 1 usd even then I would say there are better to spend that 1 on.

A very budget cosmic shmup with some story and anime girls. Also, one of the first game published by Dharker Studios. First, you are greeted by a filler story done in the visual novel style and a choice of an accompanying girl/auxiliary weapon. The game can be only played in a small window mode so everything looks a bit too small for my taste. That is the first issue. Second is the controls; all steering and shooting is done with a mouse. It is very sluggish and imprecise, which is this case is a huge problem. Shmups require a lot of precision and here you have little to none. That, combined with an unforgiving difficulty and lack of typical upgrades or choice of difficulty makes this title a very frustrating experience. You can see on one of the trailers a 'Hangar' option which is non existent in the game. I have a strong suspicion this game was not finished and simply abandoned before truly ready. Graphics, aside being too small, are pretty simple and clean. For the price asked it has decent amount of details. Bosses and enemies design are ok. Special effects are fine too but nowhere near as pretty as Tohou games, still could be much worse for this price. Music is different on…

The ship is sluggish and floaty. The controls aren't super great either. I'm kinda sad about it because I like the art and controlling it with the mouse sounds like an interesting way to do it but I couldn't bring myself to play much. I know that the cheap price makes it seem like a good deal but please don't get it. There are many better shoot 'em ups.

Shmup Love Boom, developed and published by Dharker Studios, is a small-scale indie shoot-’em-up that blends traditional arcade bullet-hell gameplay with anime-inspired storytelling elements. The game attempts to combine the fast reflex-driven intensity of classic vertical shooters with the character-focused presentation often associated with visual novels. While it remains firmly rooted in the gameplay traditions of classic shmups, the inclusion of narrative sequences and character interactions gives the experience a slightly different tone compared to purely arcade-focused shooters. The premise revolves around a familiar science-fiction conflict where Earth faces an alien invasion, and a group of skilled pilots must fight back using advanced spacecraft. The story unfolds between gameplay stages through dialogue scenes that introduce various characters involved in the battle. These segments feature anime-style character portraits and light narrative exchanges that attempt to provide context for the unfolding conflict. Although the plot itself is relatively straightforward, the character interactions add a layer of personality that helps distinguish the game from many other indie …

What do you get when you mix a JRPG with a Shmup? A POS with sludgey controls and to much bad dialogue.
