About Sid Meier's Civilization®: Beyond Earth™

✦ AI summary

Lead humanity's expansion to a distant alien world where you'll explore exotic terrain, manage colony development, and shape your civilization's future through a nonlinear tech web offering multiple victory paths. Every choice matters—from selecting your expedition sponsor to customizing units and deploying orbital support—as you compete against rivals to establish dominance on humanity's new home.

Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth is a new science-fiction-themed entry into the award-winning Civilization series. Set in the future, global events have destabilized the world leading to a collapse of modern society, a new world order and an uncertain future for humanity. As the human race struggles to recover, the re-developed nations focus their resources on deep space travel to chart a new beginning for mankind.

As part of an expedition sent to find a home beyond Earth, you will write the next chapter for humanity as you lead your people into a new frontier and create a new civilization in space. Explore and colonize an alien planet, research new technologies, amass mighty armies, build incredible Wonders and shape the face of your new world. As you embark on your journey you must make critical decisions. From your choice of sponsor and the make-up of your colony, to the ultimate path you choose for your civilization, every decision opens up new possibilities.

Features

  • Seed the Adventure: Establish your cultural identity by choosing one of eight different expedition sponsors, each with its own leader and unique gameplay benefits. Assemble your spacecraft, cargo & colonists through a series of choices that directly seed the starting conditions when arriving at the new planet.
  • Colonize an Alien World: Explore the dangers and benefits of a new planet filled with dangerous terrain, mystical resources, and hostile life forms unlike those of Earth. Build outposts, unearth ancient alien relics, tame new forms of life, develop flourishing cities and establish trade routes to create prosperity for your people.
  • Technology Web: To reflect progress forward into an uncertain future, technology advancement occurs through a series of nonlinear choices that affect the development of mankind. The technology web is organized around three broad themes, each with a distinct victory condition.
  • Orbital Layer: Build and deploy advanced military, economic and scientific satellites that provide strategic offensive, defensive and support capabilities from orbit.
  • Unit Customization: Unlock different upgrades through the tech web and customize your units to reflect your play style.
  • Multiplayer: Up to 8 players can compete for dominance of a new alien world.
  • Mod support: Robust mod support allows you to customize and extend your game experience.

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate the game's distinctive setting, lore, factions, creative art direction, and unique features like the technology matrix and espionage system, with some finding it a relaxing comfort experience. However, many criticize the confusing tech tree layout, repetitive late-game combat, and lack of long-term engagement, with some feeling the game loses its appeal after several playthroughs despite respecting the developers' effort.

yea this aint it i can appreciate the work and effort put into this but its not fun its confusing because i dont know what these future techs are and the tech tree is a spiral instead of linear i like the idea neat ideologies cool art and units just doesn't work and i lost interest after 4 games it seems like the Devs did too

7/10 I can never play even one more second as the "hours played" is flawless. However, this game is good. Very good in fact, but also fairly boring. Once you get everything setup it is pretty repetitive. You max out your units fairly early on and it is just... boring to fight other nations. Unlike Civ V, which is the base of this game. The fusion of different types of units if really interesting and I love it, but I just never care to come back to this game. Would rather just play V or VI again.

My favourite Civ. I played it when I couldn't yet speak English very well and it created a lasting impression on my young mind. The setting combined with the Civ gameplay was great. But especially the setting. In fact, the setting itself is just really detailed. Now that I'm grown, I'm taking my time reading the lore for every research and wonder in this game and honestly, it is so much more than people really give this game credit for. The writers created some really cool factions and lore. I think it has the best spying system among all other Civ games. And the soundtrack is also amazing. I unironically listen to it on my own.
