I really want to enjoy it, but it's just bland. Stacking a bunch of units on a commander just makes them a target and the fighting is dull. Building takes so long I have a hard time keeping track of what my goals were and I am often bored with the game before I finish the first era.2 found this helpful
unsure why there is so much hate. I like it.1 found this helpful
First off, Steam only allows you to say Yay or Nay - but I want to say Meh. So, regarding the question of: do I recommend the game, I have only selected "No" so that my criticisms are heard. Until Steam add a "Meh" option, unfortunately you have to pick a side. But whether I am actually saying whether you, the reader, should buy the game or not, depends on if what I criticise is also an issue for you. If not, you may find a lot of enjoyment here still. I'd rate the game at about 5.5/10. Not going to bore everyone with how many hours I've spent on Civ 6, or how much I hate change. Overall, I like the civ swapping as well as the regroup settings. It makes logical sense - you don't have modern day Romans or ancient Americans. All it means, is that in each age, you have to regroup your strategy, which makes the game more interesting. I cannot understand why the game got so much hate over this, with people claiming it is not a real Civilization, because it is, and these changes do not alter the gameplay as much as people claim. The same is said for the regroup settings. I am on board - a snowball victory is boring, where you know you are going to win, the AI cannot outpace or outstr…
Even the 120$ Settlers Edition doesn't include any kind of Season Pass like previous Civ Games, so you have to buy each overpriced new DLC if you want them. Firaxis somehow standardized and simplifyed the winning conditions so now every playthrough feels more or less the same.
Boring, really boring. I am playing this series for more than 30 years. I regret to say it but UI is poor, UX is poor. Gameplay is too much inspired by challenging titles like "Old World. Still, worse than them. Looks like a game by a band of young startup boys. And the price is too high. I regret buying it.
I've been playing Civilization since it first came out for my Amega 2000 computer on three and a half inch floppy disks. Each new version of the game has made it more and more adictive. If you are into playing this type of game,I recommend you should get it, as its the best.
