Sideral is a first person 3D rendered low poly selection of Unity based puzzle minigames. While there's some scope for 3D puzzle games (Portal and Qube are great examples), this isn't implemented well enough to satisfy that niche. The puzzles are all really basic Sokoban style block placement/pathing puzzles that are done just as well in old 1990's Flash games. How is this to appeal to modern PC gamers? The technical implementation is equally weak. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. Bewilderingly, the game doesn't include proper audio controls, so you can't turn off the annoying background music, you'll need to alt+tab out and stop the music using the Windows sound mixer. This is obviously not okay and it's uncl…

The game is still in beta and it shows. For example, during the whole section from the red labyrinth to the super annoying final labyrinth, the game does not save your progress. So if you take a break from the game, you'll have to redo about 20% of the game to continue. One bug seems to have been fixed since june 2019: The lasers within night puzzles do reset when you reset the puzzle. The puzzles range from somewhat entertaining to soul-draining (the final labyrinth). If the saving mechanism were fixed and maybe every fail left a marker on the ground in the final labyrinth, I'd give the game an upvote. As it is, it is an exercise in frustration and recommended only for people with a very big tolerance for pointless punishment.

This game should not be for sale yet. I feel rather cheated after buying a game in beta
