About Simpler Times
In Simpler Times, you step into the shoes of Taina as she prepares to move out of her childhood home and begin the next chapter of her life. Relive her memories and learn how she grew into the creative, expressive person she has become. This is a contemplative, cozy experience. There is no score, no timer, no combat, no failing, and no anxiety. Just vibes.

Simpler Times takes place in Taina’s childhood bedroom. Here you can listen to music, paint, watch nature, take photos, browse books, read notes & solve puzzles. Each object has a story to tell. The game takes place over ten years with 4 different moments to explore, each one portrayed in a different season.

Explore each chapter of Taina’s past without timers or fail states adding unnecessary pressure. The subtle narration unfolds through careful observation and introspection, rewarding those who embrace Simpler Times' reflective nature.

Music is the soulful centerpiece of Simpler Times, as Taina relives her childhood memories by spinning records on a turntable. The exceptional lo-fi soundtrack by George Pandrea, a true maestro of the chillout format, is accompanied by the lyrical poetry of Taina’s IRL voice actor, Maeve Kroeger. You’ll want to listen to these vibey tunes over and over (and over) again, trust us.

It's decent (which may sound like damning with faint praise, but I really did enjoy my time).....the graphics are low-poly but more than sufficient, the music is........well, not to my tastes, but serviceable enough, and the gameplay (while a little wonky zooming in and out of active zones) is quite fun/enjoyable. This is a first person sorta narrative walking simulator VERY light puzzle game about a young woman heading off to university and packing up things and reliving certain memories, all within the confines of her bedroom. She'll pack boxes, build projects, collects girl guide badges, etc etc, as she works her way towards the final goodbye to home. It's sweet (and rather trite/hackneyed, but still not overly saccharine) and fun to play, and while some of the achievements may require a second playthrough (unless you're following a guide) to mop up, it's generally easy to finish in a decent amount of time. VERY COZY AND BEAUTIFUL
The story was cute but being unable to tab out at all during the game even after switching it to windowed mode and with how slow you can turn and move made it almost unbearable. I love the minigames and the story however.
I wasn't expecting this game to hit me so hard, but by the end I found myself crying. Not that the game is sad, but it definitely tapped into some kind of nostalgia deep down or something. It's a very whimsical and nostalgia oriented game in general though. I would describe it as being 1 part interactive narrative, 1 part puzzle game, and 1 part chilling in your room as a kid playing around with all your cool stuff. It's quite clearly meant to be a slow paced exploration game with interactive narrative elements. The player character narrates her line of thought with each item you look at or pick up. At first I found this a bit jarring since I wasn't actually expecting voiced lines, but as the story went on there's also lot of unspoken characterization that happens as you explore her room. The combination of the characters thoughts, experiences and the stuff she values across the different spaces of her room really endeared the main character to me by the end. The story is centered around personal slice of life moments from across her lifetime that took place in her childhood room, and they function as small vignettes that feature her different interests over the years. The focus …
Such a thoughtful and sweet game that highlights the importance of being present. Very chill game to unwind the mind.
Fun game, but the controls are a bit wonky. I don't like how it's a first person game yet it's more of a "point-and-click" to navigate your way around the room. It just feels less intuitive.
