Ski Patrol

The skiing mechanic feels good and there seems to be a lot of content. What is missing are the other skiers. The resorts feel empty and the forests are not very diverse. I really enjoyed playing this game when it was first released. The graphics being retro-like gives the game a really nice look that I don't see in many games these days. The game feels really smooth to play and I always enjoy completing tasks, as well as having that free world experience. I highly recommend getting this game if you want to just relax and enjoy a solo player game. I will also add that the creator is constantly updating the game and fixing any glitches, making the game best as possible.

It's pretty dang good for an indie project. It can definitely feel like you just sort of fall randomly though, especially if you're going fast. The resorts are decent, but more expert-oriented terrain would be nice. Overall? 8/10

Ski Patrol manages to combine the fun sport of skiing with search and rescue into one package. The graphics, while not the greatest, still provide the game with a unique sense of charm. The focus clearly went into the technical aspects of the skiing movement, as that's where I believe this game shines. Words or footage alone can't do it justice; it's something you have to play to truly experience. Regarding big critiques, I think Ski Patrol does fall flat when giving the player an engaging main objective to work toward. This is mainly (I think) due to the fact the "open world" part of the game is simply underdeveloped and lacking in the variety needed to keep the gameplay fresh and exciting. Things like having to repurchase disposable items for money multipliers, or having to ride lifts again and again I feel take up a lot of the total playtime and contribute to the gameplay loop growing stale and repetitive rather quickly. With that said, even in its "early access", Ski Patrol is quite promising in its presentation. Ski Patrol is an incredibly unique take on the Snow Sport genre of video games, and has a surprisingly large amount of areas to explore. As an early Alpha and Beta tester, I believe this game has come a long ways since the early days of development, and have made the following conclusions in my first few Pros: (+) The core mechanic of skiing has greatly improved since earlier stages of the game, and has brought greater amounts of immersion to the actual act of skiing than what most ski games today offer. The game will benefit and punish you for testing the limits of the slopes, and really shows the quality work of programming such a complex mechanic. (+) The maps offered to the player allow for a lot of exploration, and reward the player for doing so. No area feels off-limits, and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring every nook and cranny of each map. (+) I will always have a special place in my heart for good rag-doll physics, and this game did not disappoint me one bit in this aspect. (+) The content this game offers is quite relaxing, and can be played somewhat mindlessly with how simple the controls are.
