SONG OF HORROR COMPLETE EDITION

Probably the scariest game I have played in a while :,))

Solid survival horror game, but the QTEs are annoying. Great environments. Floaty controls.

PROS: + a fresh take on survival horror genre + one of the few games out there that managed to make quick time events fun + beautiful graphics and great atmosphere + due to enemy encounters happening at random, the game is incredibely tense and scary! + a lot of creative puzzles + surprisingly interesting story + very challenging, which only increases the fear factor CONS: - performance issues: I encountered constant frame drops and one or two crashes - the listening at the door mechanic isn't always reliable (best turn the "for hearing impaired" option in the menu, which will make the characters make scared expression if they hear something) - I found the mirror mini game to be irritating on higher difficulties OVERALL: 8/10

As I found when replaying levels for achievements, you are not going to have the exact same experience, which only becomes more varied in the later episodes that add new QTE events that can happen. The first of these events is a encrouching darkness, trying to get in the room you're in and you have to fight to keep it out, slamming the door multiple times to fight against the many arms, tentacles and tendrils of darkness back. Another is one where you have to hide and once hidden, you need to use your buttons to control your heartbeat as the things hidden in the darkness come for you and if you don't calm down …

It's a good game, but for the love of God, play it on the easiest difficulty first, otherwise it's just annoying. Or just risk it and get the permadeath, up to you.

Damn Daniel, back at it again with the white vans!!11! Jokes aside, this probably is the most stressful game that i have ever played (atleast at the time of writing this review), but my god, it's absolutely rewarding getting through a chapter with no deaths. The environments still look great, even to this day and the atmosphere is oppresive as it can be. All of the characters have pretty distinct personalities and are generally pretty likeable, which of course makes it even more of a gut punch when you're almost at the end of a chapter, something happens, you panic and then die with that character through a mistake. Puzzles are mostly good, but some are a little bit annoying (Picture puzzle be like: ) The Presence is the star of the show and it's really apparent. If you are good in quick-time events even in stress, then you won't have problems. (The Requiem can go die in a ditch, though) Story is about what you expect, but that's not a bad thing. It has it's highlights. Using a guide if you are stumped by a puzzle or where to go next, is completely fine. I guess moral of the story is: Return the slab...or suffer the curse...
