About this Game
"Soul Eater" is an exhilarating 2D platformer roguelike game that offers players a dynamic and constantly evolving gaming experience. Game Story
The player embarks on a journey through a sword containing the soul of a being desperate for revenge against their past betrayers. The soul within the sword shares the player's past wounds and anger, fueling a desire for vengeance against their enemies. As the player travels the world, they seek out those who betrayed them in the past, and with each encounter, they have the opportunity to seize their souls. These acquired souls are absorbed into the player, further empowering the player, and allowing player to control the enemy.

I found several aspects of the game entertaining such as level designs, background music, and the simplistic nature of the gameplay. However I have some thoughts on improving the over all experience. First off several controls and key elements of gameplay are relatively unclear. For example, tab to open skills, shift to dodge, and what exactly throwing your sword accomplished. I this if you clarified this in the beginning it would make the game much more enjoyable!3 found this helpful
"Soul Eater" is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This is certainly one of the worst platformer brawlers on Steam, as the developer gleefully infringes on the Sony trademark for "Soul Eater: Battle Resonance", the old PS2 game from a while ago. You can't just take someone else's trademark unfortunately. I can't go make a video game about Transformers starring Optimus Prime, even if my game is a Tetris ripoff that has nothing to do with the Hasbro IP. The names are also trademarks. Anyway this is absolutely worse in all respects than Soul Eater: Battle Resonance despite being decades more modern. It's an incredibly lazy, badly put together platformer/RPG-lite with badly tesselated, probably asset flipped tiles and no value for gamers at all. And no, swords are not things one can "journey through", like you could a forest. Doesn't work that way. Bad concept. I found this game very interesting. There is a potential in it. The music is really good. Level design is fun! Enemies are cool. Only issue i have is that, when i am meant to get killed by the spikes, i don't. whilst i understand this game is free, it is important for me to note this nonetheless. :)) I do wish this game would eventually or one day be a full proper game, as i see some nice aspects of it that are worth trying out for one. Overall, I enjoyed it!
