Voyager 1, a space probe launched by NASA on September 5, 1977, as part of the Voyager program to study the outer Solar System and interstellar space beyond the Sun's heliosphere and deliver a message to a possible extraterrestrial life. The Voyager message was carried by a phonograph record, a 12-inch gold-plated copper disk containing sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth. Message received.
200 years later. Planet Corot, one of the few habitable worlds discovered in the second age of space exploration, houses a military research facility where a super secret project known as XR-110 is being commissioned. A giant combat mech capable of interstellar travel is the brainchild of Dr. Lincoln Maverick, the last hope for humanity to resist the wrath of The Toliman Empire.
A group of spies from Proxima Centauri swiftly discover that XR-110 is extraterrestrial in its design as well. The mech, that soon will set the galaxy on fire, is a long-lost relic from the Toliman’s past. The Empire launches a surprise attack on Planet Corot before Dr. Maverick manages to refurbish the mech. In order to secure the ancient weapon all forces are thrown into battle.
Corot is scorched in mere seconds. General Scaph launches the assault and assumes control over the planet. Before the research facility is levelled to the ground and Dr. Maverick and his team fight off the aliens until the last breath, Lt. Brooklyn Landers of The Earth Confederation Defence Force mans the mech and escapes the facility unharmed.
Lt. Landers, reckless and diffident, unwillingly shoulders the fate of humanity. General Scaph, now enraged, orders The Toliman Empire forces to pursue and annihilate the Space Runaway.
Cool 16-bit-like shooter with mechs and alien robot scum. Plays well with controller. Music is good and nice to listen to. 3 type of weapons, laser (power), homing (easy hit) and rifle (good all rounder). Stun enemies then release fire to make them explode, simple but again cool idea. Might be kinda hard depending on the skills of course. Lack of proper options like setting up custom controls and screen resolution is the main con here. Play if you like shooters, definitely a good game.
It's a free game with good graphics, good music and the play feel is overall fine. Recommended if you like old style arcade games that have checkpoint re-spawns and creating recovery routes. The gripe I have with this game is that the game is very unbalanced in terms of boss patterns and player's shot abilities. You choose your weapon by collecting a rotating color item just like Tatsujin. Blue weapon (laser) is outright broken in terms of damage, dealing 3~4 times of damage than any other types. Red homing laser is complete utter trash, it cannot defeat any enemies at all at Level 1. Yellow is fine, but it lacks damage just like Red. There is absolutely no reason to select anything but blue. Since the blue laser does humongous damage, most of the bosses can be beaten in less than 2 seconds if you spam 2 bombs and keep shooting the core with the blue laser. This tactic does not work on Stage 5 boss, since it's just a cluster fxxx of patterns, where the enemy spawns BEHIND the boss sprites with random exploding bullets coming from the bottom side of your ship. Good luck dealing with that. I have given up on Stage 5 boss for the moment. Overall, the game is not that bad, it take…

Hitbox is comically big, and to boot if any pixel grazes a wall you're dead too. It's old school hard but imho not in the good way that keeps you coming back, unless of course you like that sort of difficulty - just not for me. If I'm gonna get my stones busted it's playing something a lot cooler than this. But tbh it's not bad, it's fine. The only objectively bad thing about it is how enemies don't explode when defeated right away they just sort of linger there for a bit? It's really weird and not sure what the intent was there.
#tinygamereviews

R-Type-styled sidescrolling space shooter, but with a mech. Plays awful without a controller.

Overall Score: 2/5

Curator: Nostalginauts
Dead enemies aren't instantly removed from the screen. Instead, for some reason they are moved to the top of the sprite stack and obscure your vision of oncoming threats. For a shmup that's just bad design, and it's only exacerbated by the size of your sprite and hitbox. Otherwise, I didn't see much not done better by Hyper Duel or Cybattler. I mean, it's free so try it if you want, but there are so many better horizontal shmups that feel good out the gate that I can't recommend this game.
