About SpaceSlog
SpaceSlog is a challenging and unique spaceship and colony simulator that focuses on shipbuilding, crew interaction, and exploration. Inspired by games such as Rimworld, Starship Theory, Dwarf Fortress and X-COM, as well as iconic media such as Firefly, Stargate Universe and The Expanse.
Your colony ship is destroyed, and with it humanity's final hope is lost to the dark, cold void. But somewhere, deep within the slog, drifts a barely functioning life pod. Alone, hungry, and lost in space, you command a motley crew of ragged survivors and must guide them through a time that has come to be known as the SpaceSlog era.

Build your ship any way you please.
Whether you want to build a small but nimble ship with a small crew, or a large battleship with lots of crew, the choice is yours. Just ensure you have enough supplies to manage your crew and keep your ship functioning. Careful consideration must be used when placing doors, power or atmospheric systems in case of breaches or other hazards.Explore a procedurally generated galaxy.
Each time you play, the game's incident system will generate a different galaxy for you to explore. Whichever difficulty you choose will influence how this galaxy or incidents are generated.Exploration is key to survival.
Stay in one place for too long or get stranded and your crew will surely die. You must keep moving and find other ships or factions to trade with in order to survive.Crew needs and moods.
The needs of your crew must be met in order to keep your ship fully functioning. An angry crew may rebel, decide not to work or give up completely. Ensure you have enough food and water to feed your crew. You must also choose your captain wisely.Complex combat and medical simulations.
Gear up and fight different species of aliens in melee or ranged combat. Cut off their limbs and allow them to bleed out so you can harvest their meat for food and skin for furniture. Build a medbay to heal your own sick and injured crew.Extensive mod support.
All the game's data is stored in JSON files. This means it is extremely easy to change anything currently in the game and even add new ones. In the future we plan to expand on this even further.Mod development pedigree.
The author of SpaceSlog has spent over 10 years painstakingly developing a large and popular free modification for Mount&Blade Warband called A World of Ice and Fire. This is the reason for wanting extensive mod support and should hopefully give peace of mind for anyone wanting to purchase SpaceSlog, knowing the author is dedicated and willing to finish a project.DLC & expansions

Ok, First thing first I will say that it is in need of more content. With that said, the developer has shown that he is actively been adding to the game every few weeks give or take with updates. Also he responds very quickly with issues and answers his player base. This holds weight with me. I believe that this will be a great game in time. I have no issue with buying the game with the understanding that the game developer is working on it and he needs to take care of his expanses as well. If you have the money to spend and are willing to take the risk, I would recommend the game. If you want to wait and see nothing wrong with being cautious. Hope this helps.8 found this helpful
Ugly Rimworld clone with buggy tutorials and UI. Whomever dev'd this has no originality, and he does so many awkward things. Like you choose your starter traits? And because you're frugal, or maybe wasteful, this determines your starter resources... but wait, you're supposed to be on a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ escape pod?! The hell kind of sense does that make?? Tutorial says 'open the menu by clicking the button or F#' - okay, I use the keyboard shortcut. Nothing happens. Have to click, but the menu's already open, so have to re-click since the click closed it.. Want to cancel your orders using the cancel button? (no keyboard shortcut btw) ♥♥♥♥ you. Weird awkward glowing cursors shining through and obscuring UI elements because UI needed opacity for some reason? Too many art/UI assets duplicated from Rimworld, like the pawn art, and the targeting icon art, and health packs etc. You can listen to him in his weird streamer vid he posted along with the other stuff - making a game like 'uhm I dunno, just wanted to make y'know, your standard colony sim I guess? and sum space stuff too." Shamelessly unoriginal. Really is a slog.6 found this helpful
Has potential, but the content just isn't here yet to justify the $22+ price tag. It is a very early alpha. Having it on Steam right now is more about helping the dev out with developing the game much more so than it is having an enjoyable playing experience. That's fine as long as the consumer knows what they are getting into. There's no researching, so you don't get new tech or things to build. There's no moving of placed items (you have to deconstruct and reconstruct). There's a limited amount of things you can actually make. The tutorial is incomplete. This game DOES have the potential to be something special, but it is just too early in its development for the asking price IMO. It needs to cook a lot more.5 found this helpful

The first time ever that a game has lost me at character/crew generation. There are almost no options. Reroll does not work on captain, and despite what author replied to one of the other reviews, captain's stats are absolutely arbitrary and in no way depend on previous selections. At the very least effect is so minor that it is unnoticeable. This makes the "captain" who is supposed to be the main pawn have random/ arbitrary stats, just be harder to reroll. And yeah, skills. Some skills are arbitrarely locked out for some pawns. Aka Rimworld. But at least Rimworld had some explanation as to why. Traits/backgrounds and such. This game doesn't. Graphics. Level of their own, really. The game describes pawns as humans. Seriously, replace "humans" in there with orcs or goblins, and the pawn art would become be acceptable. Tutorial is annoying. It describes several optins to do something but only one is ever acceptable to proceed. I was always waiting for it to hang at some point. Maybe this game would be worth checking out after another year or so in development, but not now. Now it's a waste of time.2 found this helpful
A very challenging game. I died several times before I learned how to play. You have to constantly keep an eye on your oxygen and fuel levels, and sometimes it's difficult to defeat the Spaceworms. I bought a chicken so I could eat the eggs, but the chicken ate them before I did. ;) It's a fun game, and I'm looking forward to future updates.2 found this helpful
