About Spec Defense

Spec-Defense is a classic, maze-based tower defense game. Your job is simple, pick your towers and strategy, build an effective maze and make sure none gets past your defense.

The levels in the game are open playing fields with multiple paths. You will need to plan your build, using the level layout to construct a maze that maximizes your towers effectiveness. The game has a non-linear tech progression between levels. You choose what to upgrade, what new tower to unlock that best fit your play style. On top of that, each type of towers serves a very different tactical purpose. An effective combination of towers is required to maximize your odds.

Notable features:
  • 24 open levels with adjustable difficulty
  • plan and build mazes to maximize your firepower
  • non-linear upgrades, choose
  • 12 towers with different traits
  • use different combination of towers to build your play style
  • multiple ways to beat each level, lots of replayability

✦ AI summary

Players praise this tower defense game as a solid, budget-friendly offering with an interesting core mechanic that lets players design tower paths rather than following predetermined routes, along with satisfying progression through unlockable upgrades. However, common criticisms include bland music, lack of story or narrative purpose, basic tower mechanics with limited strategic depth, balance issues, and minimal post-launch support, making it feel somewhat bare-bones compared to more polished alternatives.

Good game, especially for it's low price. It's fun and interesting/hard enough, to be worth playing it. Sure, it doesn't reach to games like Defense Grid, but it also doesn't try to be that, something that is easily distinguishable by it's price difference. This game is complete as it is, and the maps impose definetely some very interesting challenges. It is hard to get the higher difficulties, but that is part of the game strategy, to build up your tower capabilities, to get there - which is doable. For a low price under 5, it's worth buying it. I have spent more fun time with it, than with some games which seem higher polished and graphically more advanced! And that's what matters.

Only a few levels in, but it seems a solid offering, if nothing spectacular. The game has a nice clean look to it, has basic pathing, and the controls work just fine. The music is rather bland, and a bit of a downer though, and there is no fluff, no story to give to a sense of purpose, a strange thing to leave out, as it takes zero programming really to add. The towers seem pretty basic, you can go up twice, and it only seems to impact damage. Seldom seems worth upgrading until all the spaces you plan to put guns are full. There are a variety or towers that you can unlock with the stars earned by beating a level. You can also buy upgrades for the towers with these stars as well which is nice. Sadly there are no strategic attacks or abilities. I like the ability to do things like that, the absence is a real shame. All in all however, given the poor caliber of many TD games, it is above average and worth a buy, despite the blandness, especially on sale. ADDENDUM: I got five and a half hours of fun before I got bored. That's not bad. No flaws, just very cookie cutter and bland.

No idea when, why, or how I got this game. But it's so terribly unbalanced, and it's only ever gotten one update. apparently nobody has this game either. so that's something.

Great TD game that lets YOU decide the path. Most TD games the path is already decided, you just stick up towers. This game lets you create different paths affecting success or failure. Similar to Defence Grid 1 & 2 but more bare bones. Upgrades and power ups allow you to go back to previous levels for a better score too. Great thinking game. I used to play on my tablet years ago before finding it here. Wish more knew about this game, hidden gem to me. Thanks devs if you are still there!!!
