Squids Odyssey

A hidden gem for fun short sessions if you didn't need to do some digging to get it to start up right. Upon starting up I encountered a white screen with the music playing and no inputs registering, a kind of "White Curtain of Death" if you will. I looked in the discussion tab and found out I wasn't alone, with many including people on steam deck having the issue. From what I can tell this has been going on for little over a year, with the solution contingent on going into the NVIDIA control panel and tweaking the 3D-settings yourself. Now call me old fashioned but despite the polished visuals and solid game-play loop, with a bit of a learning curve aside, I don't think most people are keen to go through the effort several others and I have gone through to fling these little guys at stuff as is. I would like to thank the user @Pazuzo for the insight to the issue, and I hope someday this game could be more accessible for the semi-casual audience it curtails to. Unfortunately as of right now this game is unplayable on steam. There is an issue where upon launching it only a white screen is displayed. This is supposedly an issue with the graphics card, apparently some people were able to solve it by switching to integrated graphics for this game, however I was unable to do that. Big shame.

It's a fun little cross between a fairly basic JRPG and, of all things, Angry Birds. It's cute and will put a smile on your face even if the controls on Steam could be better. However, [b]Windows and Linux users with AMD vid cards[/b] (this includes [b]Steam Deck[/b] users as it's a Linux box with an AMD card!) [b]BE WARNED[/b] that this game will NOT work properly on your system! You just get a blank white screen - no graphics are rendered, though you will hear audio and technically the buttons and such are still there. This renders the game unplayable in any conventional sense for that segment of users. In my own case, this puts me in the odd position of being able to play it on my potato-adjacent business laptop but not my much more powerful home desktop system! The game goes on sale frequently and is worth getting at a discount as long as you are [i]not[/i] in the above category, or have an easy workaround if you are.

A very good game I played on my childhood. I would recommend getting it on a sale. If you get a white screen refer to a discussion thread that I cannot link "Stuck in White Screen" and look at my comment, I was able to solve it.
