STEINS;GATE is the award-winning time travel science-fiction interactive visual novel developed by 5pb. and Nitroplus.
It is widely considered to be one of the finest Visual Novels ever made.
STEINS;GATE follows a rag-tag band of tech-savvy young students who discover the means of changing the past via mail, using a modified microwave. Their experiments into how far they can go with their discovery begin to spiral out of control as they become entangled in a conspiracy surrounding SERN, the organisation behind the Large Hadron Collider, and John Titor who claims to be from a dystopian future.
Interaction with the game takes place through the “phone trigger” system, where the player can receive calls and text messages and decide whether to reply to them or not, changing the outcome of the game’s plot.

one of the greatest pieces of fiction ever. the goat?
It took 13 hours for this game to Stockholm syndrome me into enjoying myself, after draining my soul with a five-chapter cringefest of weebery, sex crimes and characters so equally insufferable that they somehow cancel each other out. And yet, once the game gets to the sci-fi parts, it's really just as compelling as everyone says. I wish I could give it a neutral review. The highs and the lows are so ridiculously different that I can't say one had more of an impression than the other. What a weird game.
to think that a random VN from 2009 would become my favorite story... slow (but enjoyable) start for first 4 chapters, than the deceptive pacing sends you to chp 6 in tears and shambles. you will laugh, cry, be angry, and probably like bananas. the emotional impact this game had on me was drastic, and you'll probably feel the same way. the music and voice acting is also really good, and all the characters got intresting backstories that relate to who they are. the plot twists are insane also and did have me second-guessing what would be next, which was really fun for me. the real treat of the story is chp 11, which is the best and most satisfying finale i have ever seen to any story, and you'll probably agree with me when you go experience it firsthand. the other endings are also really good but bittersweet, i teared up to each of them and especially mayuri's. please listen to the other positive reviews, and i hope you snag this game while you can. one more thing - please for the love of god, play blind, just like everyone else says. trust them on this el. psy. kongroo
