Sugardew Island - Your cozy farm shop

I played the demo of this game before purchasing it and I quite enjoyed it. However, I thought I was missing out on more content due to only having access to the demo, which cuts you off at day 8. I do not regret this purchase, only because I bought it on sale and it is "ok" for what it is. But I will say, it's lacking. There's no life to the game. You can't really do much with the other available characters....it feels like there's not really anything to do and I've only played the game for about 5hrs and I'm pretty sure I've almost completed it.

This game was in a bundle I bought, so I got it "for free". I did play it all the way through since I already owned it, but apart from that I have not much good to say about it. The devs seem to just have really not cared... The basic movement mechanics are clunky, I needed to realign myself so many times to harvest or plant correctly, and the batch sowing/watering still flips into the wrong direction often. The game implemented a "slow down" button to "fix" this presumably, which is at best a bandaid. They should have instead made sure the basic mechanics work smoothly from the start. The main character appears to have very little personality. For example, you can talk to the NPCs, but your character only ever says "okay" as a response to any input. NPCs have one line per day that they mechanically repeat every time. For ineffable reasons, you can go on dates with them, which feels weird because every interaction is so robotic and lifeless. That coding effort would have been better invested into the basics. You farm for half the day and then spend half of the day selling produce in the farm shop. cute little game to play when you just wanna relax

IMPORTANT: I'd ONLY recommend if it is on sale. Full price seems a bit much for what you get. It's fine? I got it in a charity bundle, otherwise I would not have purchased. I have heard bad things so I wasn't sure but I decided to give it a try, It's not bad, It's just pretty simple. I do find the gameplay loop enjoyable, I didn't come in with high expectations. Good if you're just trying to kill some time or wind down. I'll probably work on 100% just because it's there, and it isn't difficult, it satisfies my brain's desire to achieve a goal. And the animals are cute. If I were to recommend a change that would increase the games value without reworking the mechanics or adding areas, I would suggest leaning more into decoration, so while you're farming, you can make your farm cuter and change your house/barn areas. There is SOME but it isn't alot. An update to add more decor would be nice... though I doubt it will happen.

The game felt lacking, I had very high hopes for this one, so it was a disappointment.
