Surprise Party!

This game is well done. Unfortunately many people will not enjoy due to RPG Maker engine in usage. This makes control slow, text skipping slow, everything decision based usually has to be approved on Yes/No question. There are some mazes, which are just timeconsuming to go through. Fight is poorly constructed (spell that is supposed to be only thrown at the caster, still requires to additionally confirm that). Thankfully, there are quite frequent save game points. And story is well done, except for not being able to skip some sections, which are repeated because we failed. In general, it has nice spooky theme, but nothing scary. "Surprise Party!" is a very poorly made amateur stealth/action game where you take on the role of a balloon (because all the good ideas for video games were already taken) and you need to save the universe in this mildly horror themed indie disaster. What do you do in the game? Stealth/avoidance gameplay and clicking through some really badly written visual novel text like a console peasant would do because consoles didn't have enough power to do voices. But PCs do, so this sloppy presentation is inexcusable. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded [i]despite[/i] the bad graphics, not because of them. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. Игра "Surprise Party!" оказалась приятным сюрпризом! Простой, но увлекательный геймплей затягивает с первых минут. Идея организации вечеринки-сюрприза раскрыта интересно: нужно собирать ингредиенты, украшать помещение и следить за временем, чтобы не провалить сюрприз. Визуальный стиль яркий и мультяшный, что создает позитивное настроение. Понравилась вариативность задач и возможность улучшать навыки главного героя. Постепенное усложнение геймплея не дает заскучать, а наличие различных персонажей добавляет разнообразия. Конечно, игра не претендует на звание шедевра, но она отлично подходит для коротких игровых сессий и просто для того, чтобы расслабиться и отвлечься. Есть небольшие шероховатости в управлении, но они не критичны. В целом, "Surprise Party!" – это милая и занимательная игра, рекомендую всем, кто любит казуальные проекты.

I have finished this game all the way through twice now. My time does not reflect this, yes, however I played it outside of my Steam account. The atmosphere, music, characters, and style are all very good steps in the right direction to keep my interests held. Normally I dislike pixel games. They are not for me. I am spoiled with AAA graphics sorry. Surprise Party! however, tickled my fancy so I gave it a go, twice over. I will not cover this game deeply as other reviewers have already gone into depth on many things, and you can take from that what you will. Me personally, I enjoyed this. Sat down with a coffee and just spent a good portion of my morning getting lost in this world. Sure I had some difficulty in areas, but they were purely my lack of skill or understanding of a situation, not due to the game. Hoo-Roo is a new dev on the front. They seem young and willing. For this to be a taste at what they may accomplish even better later on, hell I am down to keep them in my watchlist. Good job, and hope you take from your experiences with this game, and the reviews/feedback of others to keep climbing the ladder of Game Dev.

Jaybird got everything right, although I wouldn't be as critical of the dialogues, but the rest of the gameplay is pure mockery of the player. The game itself is about 4 hours long, but due to random birds and long gaps between saves, you can spend four times as much time here. And, of course, my favorite part – "you're cornered, you're cornered, you're cornered, you're cornered, you're cornered, you're cornered!!!"
