Build and customize massive starfleets to explore the galaxy, research alien tech, and wage turn-based strategic battles with real-time combat sequences. The Enhanced Edition adds the shape-shifting Loa race with over 120 unique ship sections and a completely new tech tree, plus all previous DLC races and cosmetics for ultimate faction variety.
Customize your own starships, amass your fleet, explore the outer reaches of the galaxy and expand your empire. Research new alien technologies and bring them into battle with a mix of turn-based strategy and real-time skirmishes.
Now a new Faction bursts onto the scene, a race of Artificial Intelligence who once served as slaves and now return seeking vengeance. Playing as the Loa, your Fleets will become masters of metamorphosis, shape-shifting into new forms to become the ships you need, where you need them. Durable and hardy, your colonies can be built on any rocky planet. Building an empire of silicon and steel, you will bring your former masters to their knees…or will you bring about the End of Flesh.

An unfortunate experience for anyone subjected to it. Regardless of my opinion on Sword of the Stars 1, I really do respect that with 2 here, the studio tried something different...it's just such a shame that it doesn't feel like they thought anything through... The frustrating nature of the "Fleet" system means that I can never just command my ships, they have to be grouped into a fleet before they can do anything, which takes away a lot of control and agency I have as the player. Maybe it's there to scale back the nightmarish management creep of SotS 1's late game. Nevertheless, I, and my ship captains, can't be trusted to do basic tasks, instead I need an admiral, one per colony, natch, to do it for me, even if it's just mining asteroids or setting up colonies. It's frustrating, even without watching as my fleets return to the capitol world when they could be doing other things because "that was the mission." Just like the first game, I'm drowning in weapon types and whatnot, but the game is very stingy with meaningful data. What I mean is that, cool, you're showing me a buttload of graphs, but how effective will this gun be? Why are my ships blowing up faster than t…4 found this helpful

Ugly. Opposite of punchy. I'm sure it has a good personality, deep inside there, but I can't stand the way this thing looks long enough to explore it.
