Always loved this game. one of the better space games, old but definitely good and fun for many many many many hours :)1 found this helpful
Compared to X2-The Threat and X3-Reunion, this one is even harder than X3-Reunion, more time consuming before you hardly notice any ranking improvements necessary for buying better goods/stations/ships. In X2 you were settled after the first 4-7 plot missions, had a good view on the universe and the ship speeds and maneuvrability felt better. This one just feels vast and soo very slow to do anything, like a time trap scam even with SETA; ships and stations are even more expensive than in former games + the barrier to buy is not only money, but also reputation.
Tbh really well made, recommend...
Fun Space exploration and economy building game. Lots of opportunities to dive into the game's universe and mold it to your will.
Egosoft is 12 german dudes in a trenchcoat who love space as a concept first and design games as a distant afterthought. Lots of 'vibes' here. Cool background music and great ship designs to drool over. The actual gameplay is passable at best. Like Bethesda games you'll need to install some extra ♥♥♥♥ to make it playable: First is the bonus pack. You can find in the DLC section on steam or from the Egosoft website directly. Then there is the vanilla safe mod list: Egosoft forum topic 278257 There is a great steam guide for this game all about modding the game without getting the modded tag. To check in game you look at the bottom of your pilot stats for yellow text, if it's not there then you're good. With that said. I really cannot suggest actually trying to do the plots in this version of the game. They are like pulling teeth. Playing X without the station building script is agony. You get that script with the default bonus pack in the next game, Albion Prelude. That script alone is why I would suggest AP over TC any day. So if you're going to play TC, then forget achievements and instal the station builder script.
