What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players appreciate the game's creative concept based on the Japanese hide-and-seek ritual, with many finding it entertaining despite its short length. However, the game is frequently criticized for significant performance optimization issues, lack of graphics settings or control remapping, and an AI opponent that feels too predictable and easy to outsmart rather than genuinely threatening. Players also note the experience would benefit from increased difficulty, better ambiance, and additional content like a second chapter.
Very fun game, wish there was a chapter 2
Hello Cynath, we meet in 2021 global game jam, I have to say that unfortunatelly I wasn´t able to play the game a lot because it has performance issues, even though I have 16GB RAM the game doesn't run fluid. I reccomend you to add to the options menu different levels of graphics as other games in order to cover a big range of PC with different resources.
There was a huge bang outside and I thought, oh I better not do the ritual tonight because what if something is going on outside?
Te Encontre revolves around the ritual game "One Man Hide and Seek," or "Hitoru Kakurenbu," which originated in Japan, and gives it its own twist. You play as a teenager who doesnt believe in paranormal things, so she recreates an internet ritual for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles, just to regret it very quickly. This is your basic "collect stuff and dont get caught" kinda game, but thats okay, its not too long and not bad enough to make it frustrating. This is just another poorly optimized low-budget indie horror game with terrible frame rate issues. There are NO settings at all that you can adjust, not even resolution. I experienced constant frame rate drops down into the 30s with an RTX2080 and i9 processor. You cannot remap the controls or manually save the game. There is also no way to defend yourself against the doll who always finds you no matter what because she always knows exactly where you are. I also found being chased by the doll to be more comical than scary. I cannot recommend this game at all.
Very cool concept, I really liked it, but they still gotta work on the game to make it more challenging, it was really easy to complete and it didn't take me that long to figure out the AI, perhaps making the AI more smarter should help this, and maybe if the doll sees the player get into a room have the doll ch CK under the bed and or other places like the closets etc. I feel like that would make it more fun, also add more ambience or music to the game. That should make it creepy, IF YOU WANT TO CHECK IT OUT HERE'S THE LINK TO MY PLAYTHROUGH 👇👇👇👇👇👇 https://youtu.be/iuKz0gAwDOY
