TELETEXT

I was hoping this would be a teletext inspired play on Hypnospace Outlaw, a similar point 'n' click puzzle game but have not been having any fun with this. Didn't get far even with a walkthorugh before finding the puzzles obtuse instead of difficult. Right from the start it's unclear what is a password input. In the next puzzle there was a hidden input box that looked more like a bug with the scaling on a 4K monitor that required a semi-random guess on my part to complete. [spoiler] This being when entering a teletext page file name into a manager interface. [/spoiler]. I tried the next puzzle but without a guide it's obtuse to work out what you're supposed to do and with a guide or hints it seems too trivial. In the end I would have refunded if I didn't miss the window by a day.

TELETEXT is an unusual retro puzzle game that runs as a bit of an imperfect simulation of ancient 1970's era Ceefax/Teletext, and for you young kids out there, in the age of analogue TV, they used vertical blanking buffers to piggyback text information along with the video broadcast. If you had a television set that could interpret that information, you could use your remote control to read those pages of text, typically simple information like news, weather and sports, and even play some simple games. This puzzle game copies the look and feel of Teletext (to some extent) and you're challenged to read through the pages and uncover gaps and things that aren't quite right, leading you to hacking into the system (I'm pretty sure Teletext wasn't something you could hack to that extent, really), making this perhaps a bit more like Pony Island than anything else, only not quite as weird. It's interesting that they recaptured the look and feel of Teletext, but at the same time we do need to take a little step back and consider that this is a for-profit game on Steam competing with the giants of the genre. I know that it looks dated on purpose, but the reason for the game looking bad …

What a weird, obtuse but fun experience

[ENG] Neat little puzzle game with an original visual style. Gameplay consists in reading the teletext pages and looking for clues and information to unlock new ones and progress the plot. The game is very short and can be completed in an hour or two. As a negative, I found some of the puzzles very unintuitive and I had to check a walkthrough a couple of times. Hints weren't much help in these situations either. I liked it overall, it's a very unique and clever game, although I wish it was a bit less obtuse. Es muy corto y se puede completar en una hora o dos. Algunos puzles se me hicieron muy poco intuitivos y tuve que buscar en guías un par de veces, lo cual no es muy satisfactorio. Las pistas tampoco ayudaron mucho en estas situaciones. En general me ha gustado, es un juego único con ideas interesantes, aunque preferiría que los puzles fueran un poco más claros.

(I have more than 8 minutes play, but it's mostly offline.) -The puzzles are very cryptic and obtuse, and rely on abusing the interface and trying "clicking out of the box", which is a rarely a bag of fun -the interface is very archaic and annoying to use. In this particular case, it's is by design, but still... -the music gets on your nerves in 2 minutes -you can softlock yourself if you don't complete the actions in the correct order -the game does some funky stuff like crashing on purpose, or expecting you to delete stuff in the folder -the story isn't that interesting or captivating -reading the walkthrough made me even less interested in finishing it That's too many negatives. It's unlikely you'll enjoy this, unless you're a real fan of retro tech and interfaces (the game is very well programmed), in this case, wait for a sale.
