About The Apartment
The Apartment - Psychological Thriller Game
The Apartment is bringing together quite unique mix of genres. Combination of first person detective action-adventure game, psychological horror with some interesting puzzles and action-packed FPS finale, all tied together with dark and heavy story. It is not a pure horror and it's not just a story adventure either.
The Investigation
As detective James Sachs, you lead the investigation of several murders in your area. Young girls were found dead, arranged and with strange injuries that don't make any sense. It's up to you to find out who these girls were. Why were they killed. And find the murderer before he strikes again and solve the case. Case that might prove to be more difficult and challenging than you ever imagined.
Main gameplay of the action-adventure part focuses on detective work - exploring crime scenes, finding evidence, connecting clues, completing simple word puzzles or physics puzzles and piece together the whole story.
Not all evidence on the crime scene is crucial for finding the killer. There is also a lot of wrong choices you can make, wrong questions you can ask. So you will need to pay attention and think about your actions. Before your investigation ends up in a dead end.
The Nightmare
Horror part of The Apartment is focused more on psychological horror, rather than jumpscares or survival horror. There is no monster hunting you down, there is no threat that you can see (but don't worry, there is still lot of way you can die in this game). The main purpose is to create unsettling and eerie atmosphere and make the player as uncomfortable and creeped out as possible. Why? What is your goal? Survive? Win? Escape? No matter what is happening, you can only be certain of one thing now - nothing makes sense anymore.
There is no clear line between "investigation" and "horror" parts. You can never tell what is waiting around the next corner. Both worlds of reality and nightmare are slowly fusing together. But is there even such a thing as reality anymore?
The Apartment is very diverse in its environments. Don't expect single, unchanging surroundings. This game is switching scenes and environments faster than you would imagine. Always trying to keep one step ahead of the player.
Path forward is often blocked with simple, yet interesting puzzles. Word puzzles, number puzzles, simple physics stuff, but also some play with light and shadows.
Total gameplay time is 4,5 - 5,5 hours and the main story culminates in grand, action-packed finale.
NOTE: Solving puzzles is big part of the game, so be prepared for that.
Basic understanding of English might be required for some of the puzzles, so keep that in mind.

This feels like a little bit hidden gem for me and unique in some way. Crime scene investigation is nice and story is some things good but some plot/levels is very stupid and boring especially game ending is stupid. but if you get this cheap it worth of the money maybe 6/10 nothing very special but playable at least once and mostly enjoyable/interesting. Some mechanics are very buggy and frustrating example when you need to jumping using an object as an platform feels like its luck if you got to up.1 found this helpful
This is the absolute worst game that I have ever had the displeasure of coming across. This game just kept going on forever to no avail with no rhyme or reason. The puzzles were mystifying and impossible to solve. Yes we want difficult mind bending puzzles but make them solvable and make them make sense. The restarting of the levels was very frustrating as well when you gave us a scenario with nothing to connect the dots and just threw us into a new puzzle. The creators of the game seriously need to go back to the drawing board and work on the story line and the step by step process of the puzzles and how they are supposed to play out. They need to ask themselves, "Does this puzzle make sense? After 3 hours of wasted time and lots of frustration I finally threw the towel in for the night. Would not recommend.1 found this helpful
Not bad, I's pretty interesting. Just had to look up some walk through vids on youtube when I got stuck, tho. Other than that, I really like this game a lot!1 found this helpful
I would definitely recommend this game i think its really fun and brings some cool elements. I am having some problems where things wouldn't show up for example there was a room i had to find something to pry some boards off a door and i found the spot that is should be at and there was nothing there it happened with a key too where i find where it should be at but the object wasn't there i had to restart the level multiple times and even looked up if maybe i was wrong before it they finally showed up. Now i'm stuck at a level where there's all these doors and they all lead back to were i was. when i finally looked up what i was supped to do i did everything right there just isn't the door coming up that should? I've tried multiple different things thinking maybe it was my computer and even restarted that level over and over again and still nothing. Other than that i love it and heck even with the problems I've had (it could be just a me problem and not a game problem tbh) i think its worth the buy
Not really what everyone might expect, sort of mix in between investigator, psycho related, some half way acceptable story with too many irregular sidesteps, confusing things what not really should be there and endless clumsy guy moving. The graphs are ok thanks to UE but does not help too much if the architecture is derailed so as irrelevant, lots of clipping errors, at one level where the volcano erupts in front of my ever returning apartment, I have to grab a crowbar what is clipped off and only could get it after several restarting. Another end where the collision precision is out of line when passing a room full of tripwires and though you do right you get blown. The story with conspiracy ending goes violent, some real shootout against a perfect army, pooping up foes from all directions, uncontrolled and irregular, endless corridors, endless enemies plus the sniper what is not to catch as hard as I tried, well- last 4 minutes I watched on the tube where the game appeared different in some instances. Only recommended for real hardcore but I did expect more of that.
Bare in mind, it's a 3 dollar game... I bought this game quite some time ago, got around to playing it 3 days ago. Took me about 8 hours in one sitting. I really enjoyed the first half, while the second half grew more and more frustrating. After playing through the shadow puzzles(which really could use some polishing) and the final section(which is a drawnout FPS crawl), I swore to myself I was going to leave a scathing review. After beating it I immediately went to the store page where I was suddenly reminded THAT IT IS A 3 DOLLAR GAME. I put off reviewing it, now three days have passed and I only have fond memories of it. Yes the mechanics are a little clunky, but for 3 dollars this game is nothing shy of a masterpiece. The puzzle solving is unique and gratifying. The story starts off engrossing then devolves into a far fetched 1 man army against an army of mercs pleasantly reminiscent of Max Payne or Dead to Rights. I sincerely hope they take the profits from this game remaster it and I will gladly purchase it again.
