Having played it, I can say that the game ran just fine although the art style is not my favorite. Plot: Story about a young Botanist boy called Bob. From his small village on a peaceful planet, Bob dreams that while he was collecting samples for his next project, his basket was stolen by the roots controlled by the evil Green Queen of the Dark Forest, and the samples were scattered all over the Broken Isles, turning his dream into his worst nightmare. Dragged by the Green Queen into the parallel dimension, Bob faces his biggest fears! Now he must overcome them. For a start up developer, the game plays great and gives an immersive fantasy vibe. This one sparks joy! Grab it!

Here we have a maiden venture into the world of gaming by [b]Ghost Entertainment[/b]. They have attempted to tap into a rather challenging market that is filled with many fan favourites and classic titles. Most of us "Veteran Gamers" will recall the [i]PS1[/i] as the firm favourite for early 3D platform adventure titles, yet here we have a game that is reminiscent in both style, graphics and difficulty as many of those games that we all played years ago. This short game allows you just enough challenge across its levels to keep you interested throughout. Game mechanics are added and adjusted at different stages to keep you thinking, and though they will not beat most competent players, they will still ask that you maintain composure, and it will test your patience. Two game modes are available to attempt; the story mode and a speedrun section. The 8 stages that you must face are considered as one "Game", so when you look at the achievements this must be remembered if you wish to unlock them all. The Botanist is a consolesque third person action platformer where you run around a cartoony environment and collect mushrooms and avoid angry mushrooms that don't like you. Sound familiar? At least the protagonist isn't a plumber. One important note is that even though this is an amateur project, it does seem to be sincerely and genuinely made. I couldn't find any flipped assets, plagiarism or any other kind of insincere actions from the developer, but unfortunately genuine intentions alone are not enough to produce a brilliant PC gaming experience. I will say this is at 10 times better than your average Russian asset flip... kind of hammers home the point about asset flips, they harm the efforts of genuine amateur games like The Botanist, which had very, very low player counts. Yes, the game is not at all without flaws, which we'll get into, but I feel part of the blame for the failure to reach an audience here is all the pollution on Steam... asset flipping is harmful.
