About The Chameleon

A short stealth game with super-powers, set in the 70s, filled with glorious fat pixels.

Transform into enemies, dash, slow time, and super-punch your way through this moody retro stealth game.

You wake up in a secret facility, with no recollection of why you are there, who you are or why you are wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Speakers are blaring an urgent message: evacuate. As you find your way out and sneak past the robotic security guards, you will uncover the secrets of this mysterious place.

The Chameleon developed by Antonio Freyre and published by Merlino Games is a compact stealth experience that leans heavily into experimentation, blending classic sneaking mechanics with a set of unconventional abilities and a deliberately abstract presentation. Rather than building itself around a traditional narrative structure, the game drops players into a mysterious facility with minimal context, encouraging them to piece together meaning through exploration and observation. This approach gives the experience an intentionally disorienting tone, where atmosphere and player interpretation take precedence over explicit storytelling. The gameplay centers on stealth, but it quickly becomes clear that The Chameleon is not interested in adhering strictly to genre conventions. Now THIS is a pretty awesome little indie game Pros: - interesting stealth and power up mechanic - easy to understand stealth mechanics - game gets more interesting as you progress Cons: I can't really think of any. Conclusion: A pretty well done stealth "horror" game that I feel is well worth the price of admission.

"The Chameleon" is a nice and short 3d-retro stealth/immersive sim game with stellar worldbuilding, funky and moody atmoshpere and a runtime of a vintage 70s scifi-movie. The save mechanic is quite forgiving, guards stay down after you get knocked out, making it a little trivial. Died some times anyway. Nonetheless, great for an evening, does not overstay its welcome! Worth the price. Try it out!

This was an absolutely incredible game. It was tough to get used to the limiting controls but it works out well, once you understand the purpose of the game and immerse yourself in the world you've built. Stunning atmosphere, subtle story building, and some of the best PS2 era graphics implementation I've ever seen. WELL DONE.
