The Colony

"The Colony" is a really weak attempt to make a ripoff of games like Sapiens, Dwarf Fortress and so on, you know, declarative city builders where you declare what buildings you want and your workers go off and build, farm, mine, etc. Great genre, understandably popular, this is one of the worst of all games in that genre. If you can get it to load, it'll crash in minutes. Nothing is properly defined or fleshed out. A lot of things just don't work... it's an unfinished, bug riddled disaster. Despite not being in Early Access, it's obvious this is an incomplete product. Developers have an obligation to deliver complete, not partially done products to gamers, that shouldn't be controversial. Whatever the excuses may be, it does no service to gamers for incomplete products polluting Steam like this. It makes it harder for gamers to find complete games, and it makes it harder for ethical developers who do the right thing to find their audience. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D graphics which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Thank you for the free game but I can't play it. Can't assign people jobs or really do anything...

The gameplay is ok, but i wish i could save my game also other people have had a tough time opening the game so maybe optimize the game a bit more. overall the game isn't bad but from the little i played i think some people might have a learning curve due to the weird way you assign work. solid 7/10 its a good game but its a bit dusty.

OK, so ive read a lot of the comments, and i havn't played much but here is my review so far I had trouble loading the game when i was running windows 7 over a year ago, since then i updated my machine a little, lol, whole new machine, windows 10, now the game starts fine, speed buttons work, buildings seem to work fine, no key to figure out what different ores are for the mining, but thats just a learning curve. i couldnt save my game, but im hoping it auto saves and lets you jump back into the same game. i dont know if this is still being developed, but i truely hope it is, still so much more could be done with this game, love the concept tho
