About The Crafter's Defense
Game Play Summary
The Crafter’s Defense is an action-defense game, combining elements of both tower defense and action games. The player takes on the role of a dungeon core, a human reincarnated as a sentient dungeon, and must defend against waves of invaders. In place of towers, players place traps and dungeon monsters which can be placed directly on the invasion path, where they can attack the invaders, as well as freely move throughout the dungeon. Each dungeon monster also has the ability to be directly controlled by the player, adding action elements to a traditionally passive portion of the gameplay loop. But be careful, your monsters can be slain! Between waves, the player can customize the layout of their dungeon, thus altering the invasion path. A “Core Level” tracks your progress through the game unlocking more traps and dungeon monsters as you advance.

The story
While most dungeons thrive on bloodshed in order to grow their domain, Sandra has a simpler agenda: to craft objects. In her human life, Sandra studied all manner of crafting disciplines from leather working to magical enchantments. However, due to a disfigurement of her hands, she was unable to personally craft any items. Now that she has been reborn as a dungeon core, she has a chance to ply her vast knowledge of crafting. That is, if she can protect herself from an onslaught of invaders who want nothing more than to loot her treasures and destroy her very essence. Based on the Dungeon Crafting book series by Jonathan Brooks.

I really want to like this game, I've bought it twice now to give it a second chance and seriously can't even get through the tutorial before I get frustrated with it. The invading ants just randomly decide to kill your spiders and there's nothing you can do about it, and unlike in the books, you don't get the mana back to create a new spider. Also, monsters will lock on to invaders on the other side of a wall and waste their ranged attacks on the wall instead of attacking invaders they can hit. With only like 10 minutes in the game I'm already just giving up.
Wish I could recommend the game, but there are several reasons I cannot. 1. I was expecting it to be closer to the books than it was. I know it would've made things much harder, but cutscenes introducing the characters instead of thrusting you straight into game play would've made things much better for people who haven't read the books. 2. NO MOB STATS! Especially in a game with resistances/immunities, knowing what they are is vital. 3. No way to contact the devs. I've looked everywhere for an email address, even making a temp email just to ask them on X. Hopefully that method will turn something up, but until then, there's no way to submit bug reports or anything. Due to all of that, I had to request a refund. Hopefully it will be to other people's enjoyment, but just read the books. They're actually good and the reason I had such high hopes for this game. To give more context for what I would've liked to see in this game, I have a few notes. 1. An intro cut scene to explain how Sandra got in this situation, maybe a quick crafting tutorial here. It's called the CRAFTER'S DUNGEON, and I didn't see any hint of crafting. 2. More controllable mobs, this is kinda optional, but ther…
The Crafter's Defense is a decidedly average, casual tower defense game. It lacks a tutorial and must be learned through trial, error, and experimentation, which can be frustrating. The interface and controls are also a bit buggy/feel like they were intended more for a mobile game which only compounds the problem. While somewhat fun, the game is unfortunately unbalanced, doesn't do anything to set itself apart from the competition, and is rather short for the price of entry. In closing, I'd give The Crafter's Defense a 4/10 and would only really recommend it to fans of Johnathan Brooks' Dungeon Crafting book series. Fun game. I am loving to book tie ins. I am enjoying playing the game.
Fun little game. i like how it is based off the book. would like more levels and more control over the blocks or a way to generate more res. and more trap options. perhaps target settings on the creatures. as i said a good little game took me about 5 hours to clear the story and start to clear the hardmode.
It's a game that encourages you to both grind and get good at it. The game doesn't give you a ton of help figuring out what you need to do and you will probably fail many times before you figure out a working strategy but once you do you will know how to beat the level. The second level is annoying because you not told that you will be editing the level so the first time through you set up and then all your work is wasted because after the first wave you are told to start editing the level. You have to play through this every time you restart the level. I get what they're trying to do with the story but it's a bad mechanic and could have been handled better. It's a game that I'll play a bit before doing other things and take in small amounts of time.
