About Revenant March

Seven years after the destruction of her home, Olenine wanders the land as an exorcist, a specialist who harnesses spiritual essences to confront supernatural forces. Yet with her rare knowledge of inhuman languages, she strives to settle conflicts through words rather than violence.

Tasked with rescuing an influential merchant’s daughter from Gremach, a fortress besieged by ghouls, Olenine must use knowledge, power, and diplomacy to unravel a grudge spanning generations. When plunged into a maze of unspeakable secrets—including her own—can she bring peace to both the living and the dead?

・A Canadian-produced visual novel featuring a rich cast of characters, a dark fantasy setting, and a roughly 3-hour storyline (~55k words)

・Your choices will determine the course of Olenine’s journey with multiple branching paths and two possible finales; experience both to unlock an additional epilogue

・30+ expressive character sprites, 17 pieces of background art, and 19 special illustrations

・15 original music tracks

I'm sleep-deprived and I feel bad for not finding this game sooner. Seriously, this is worth more than the price tag that I'm considering donating to the developer on itch. io for how good they made this underrated gems. Yes, the art is just finding its footing, but the writing is where this game is at. So what is it about? Well, without spoiling too much, we play as Olenine (or Olly) who is an exorcist being hired to deal with finding the missing niece as well as the occurrence of ghoul and revenant outside the village. I have only recently gotten interested in the premise of the undead and zombies, but this game just amplified that, not only is the writing intriguing with a few bumpers, and doing a good job establishing the lore as well as writing plot twists without making them come out of nowhere. It was quite addicting that I just give typing notes and just screenshots of whatever details I would need to remember, so I could just enjoy the game for what it is without pause. As for the small cast of characters and that's including the 'antagonist' they were well-rounded and in-depth enough to understand their 5 Ws (Why, What, Where, Who, and When) so we can emphasise them eve…

I have never had any interest in Visual novel games. This one changed my mind completely and rocked my world. The story that unfolds is so well written and made me want to dwell deeper into the world. I have not played for so long because I feel it´s like the finest luxury chocolate and should only be eaten little by little to give it the proper respect. What drove me to download the demo was the drawing of the dead standing at the edge of the forest. I was so intriqued by the horror I feelt and for the people facing them. I downloaded the demo and after 15 minutes I feelt I must get it and be a part of this adventure. So now I actually written quite the amount of text really without telling anything about the game, and that is how it should be so you yourself can just embrace it like I did. The soundtrack is also fantastic, especially the track "Darkness", it was so good that I hoped to find it in the game folder. I have actually listened to that track alone for more than two hours nonstop. Well I hope you the developer read this review and I hope you understand that how you or your team tell a story really sucked me in. It´s just so very good. Thank you for sharing this …
Borderline on buying?
This game contains a small, polished, and detailed narrative experience. The characters are interesting and heartfelt. I primarily play these narrative-based games, and can assure you that this is a good story with decent pacing. Replaying this game a few times is rewarding, with there being several "clever in hindsight" moments that will only reveal themselves to you after you know everything happening behind the scenes. The game has very few endings, but those endings are determined by a lot of small choices that add up. Several optional dialogue choices will also reveal new information, which also make these endings a bit more profound. I'm happy to try and answer any comments if you have more questions.

A visual novel that takes place in a fantasy world where some people can speak to, negotiate with, or (most typically) destroy the dead. You are sent to a town beset by the undead and have to solve the mystery as to why they are doing this. In the meantime, you'll be faced with a the locals, who are distrusting of outsiders. As you continue through the storyline, you'll learn more about the town's history, the real villains behind everything, and even some information on your own mysterious background. To be honest, I'm not really a huge fan of most visual novels. I'm not sure how I ended up purchasing this one...maybe it was in a bundle or a particular good sale. Regardless, I'm glad I ended up buying it! With many visual novels I start to get impatient with the storyline part way through (often due to pacing issues or predictable storylines). However, there were enough interesting mysteries here that were paced out well enough that I stayed hooked the entire time and played it through in a single sitting. I found the storyline never devolved into an depressive section so large that it just wore away at me emotionally. Also, there is a decent amount of accessible lore wi…

This game is incredible!!!! It's very dense for its short length, and it felt like the entire cast and setting was well-realized and a treat to see and stumble through. The amount of secrets and mixed allegiances throughout everyone made it a real treat to get tangled up in. Just a very great experience I had a lot of fun with that's going to be bouncing around my head for awhile!!!! :>
