The Wild Eternal

I thought it was a pretty good game. only a couple good sites to help you figure out what you need to figure out.

A challenging game. I played through the first time and got as far as I could go with my chosen skills and came back for a new run and completion. Short ver: I loved the game but if you are not intrested in slower etc games this wont be for you most likely. The world exploring is really open, there are some things in this game that are not explained to well but in a way the small amount of hand holding can be nice. Longer ver: Personaly I loved the game, but if you are someone who does not like slower pace calmer games and the story is told in a more ridles/crypted like way then this will probably not be for you. On the other hand, if you do like those then this may be something you love. The world exploring is very open, i definetly ended up climbing some place i was probably not meant to . The only thing I had a little bit of a problem with was that some things were not really explained or not explained all that well. There are for example a few items one can collect and while their basic uses were obvious some of them had some other uses too that are not so obvius. Though in a sense it was kind of nice as that simply mean that there is really not much hand holding in this game, just try things and see how it goes simply put.

This is one of those games that won't click with everyone, but if you're willing to slow down and let it do its thing, there's a lot to like here. The atmosphere is easily the biggest selling point. The world is beautiful in a strange, dreamlike way, with colorful landscapes, thick fog, relaxing music, and an overall sense of mystery that kept me exploring long after I should've gone to bed. The conversations with the fox were also a highlight. He's easily the most memorable character in the game, and a lot of the dialogue has a thoughtful, almost philosophical feel to it without becoming completely pretentious. Exploration is the core of the experience, and for the most part I enjoyed it. Finding shrines, uncovering bits of lore, and gradually unlocking new abilities gave me a reason to keep pushing forward. The game's setting and themes also feel refreshingly different from what you usually see, drawing inspiration from ideas and cultures that don't show up often in games. A wonderful journey. Can be challenging at times. Not a fan of stealth in an otherwise peaceful and meditative trek through the wilderness. You are not safe. You must face certain dangers to meet all of your goals. You will lose everything you are carrying when you die in this realm. Being tasked with finding replacement items is where the game becomes tedious. Look at a guide for hints and tips before diving in to save yourself from this frustration. Overall, it's very enjoyable. Achievements are tough. Several hours of adventure for free.

Of all the games in the nebulous "walking simulator" genre I've played, The Wild Eternal is one that sticks in my mind. A vivid dreamlike experience, philosophical without being didactic. Most of all, it's the gorgeous environments that I find myself reflecting on at odd times. It's one of those games where the sense of being *transported* somewhere otherworldly is very strong. A beautiful, meditative experience.
