The Entity

The Entity is it trash? I mean is it uhhh... terrible game? yus it's terrible it's awful. It's just another trying hard to be a scary horror game which fails with the usual aspects of the insane darkness, the boring gameplay and bugs. 2/10 trying to be something.

The Entity: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly - a textbook case of what happens when REAL play testing is underrated and overlooked. The Good: +The use of a cellphone as a light source, with battery management, was a nice alternative to the standard flashlight trope. +Use of the generator as a pseudo game timer was also somewhat unique for this genre of game. +The interior cells and assets for the house for the most part looked decent and consistent. The Bad: -The couch in the basement was bright magenta (either it's texture was corrupt or just missing altogether). -There is bad clipping between objects and walls; between objects and player; between environment and interactive objects. -The menu UI is cumbersome and clumsy, both on the start screen and especially in game. -There was inconsistent use of object trigger boundaries; some (notes, light switches) are positional (you just need to stand near their onTrigger box), whereas others are directional (you need to be looking AT the keys to pick them up) -These object triggers can clip through walls (I've picked up keys and turned on lights through doors and walls) The Ugly: --The "DLC" is busted and never properly starts, instead giv…

The Entity is a first person horror adventure game where you're trapped in a haunted house. There's no reason such a reliable premise could fail, if implemented well. The Entity is not implemented well. It's been slapped together with Unity and features a lot of store bought assets. The general assembly of the game is sloppy and haphazard. The game maps PC gaming peripherals (HOTAS, Pedals, Racing Wheels etc) as if they are console peasant children's toy gamepads. This makes the player spin constantly in one direction and makes the game completely unplayable. There's no way to turn this off. This would have been picked up with basic testing on PC.

Seems very unpolished.... It mostly just froze my computer or showed me a blackscreen, so I had to play on windowed in a lower quality to get it to work. I doubt this is an issue with my setup. Starting with the good, the graphics are alright, above average when it comes to small unity indie games. The sound design is good too for the most part. UI and prompts are kinda mediocre, unfortunately. The gameplay however is pretty bad. The game establishes that you can turn on lights for exploration, but if the power runs out you get caught, for some reason. Shouldn't this be some kind of challenge? Like you have to turn on lights to find stuff, but leaving too many on can break the generator leaving you exposed. Oh that would require that light could be used as defense, of course, this isn't the case. While I am fantasizing, it would have nice if this one mechanic were consistent. Some light switches simply don't turn on, some doors don't open , some plugs don't work. Your phone is the other light source, and unless it's fully charged it's literally useless, since it barely emits any light. Great game, changed life, my wife brought the kids back and i feel contempt, 10 golden toilets out of 10, busted nut in water tower

It is def a 4$ game. I got the exact amount of what I expected.
