The Final Print

You play a reporter who is allowed to prance around the crime scene of a murder. Talk to local bar patrons about anything but the murder weapon, or the manner in which the victim was killed, or at what time the crime took place, or where one of the witnesses (a girl) is now. None of that matters, apparently! No, most importantly is clearing the name of the person arrested. Or, wait, 'arrested'? No, it's 'accused' just a few minutes later, somehow. No, sorry, my bad, the accused has already been CONVICTED now. Oh, and Death Row (TM) just called, they're up in three days! For the murder that they supposedly committed THAT DAY! Boy, the justice system in this insane parody of reality sure moves fast! There are two possible endings. One ending is barely supported by your findings and the second is not even remotely supported. Yes, it's free, but the writing is truly abysmal.

I believe this is a student project, so I'll be kind about it, though there is issues. I will say that these issues aren't big enough to warrant not playing the game though, so yes, I would say this game is worth playing at it's inexpensive price of FREE. The game has you as a reporter trying to solve a murder case so you can send it out as an article to the world. The person who is the suspect is innocent, and it's your job to find out whodunit. You'll achieve this by a mix of recording quotes characters say, asking around for information, and taking pictures of evidence (there isn't much evidence, like 6), then kind of coming to some conclusions on your own. The game said there would be hints but unless the hints were that subtle chime difference I noticed between certain quotes upon activating them, or maybe the white/green lines (what even is the difference between these anyway? A future game might benefit from such information being laid out for the player), I don't know what else it'd be. Short and fairly straight-forward game. I enjoyed the reporter angle (rather than police detective) and felt the newspaper publishing was a unique game mechanic. The game was unfortunately very short - I'd love to get more! I also felt like I was supposed to determine a suspect's guilt on just the flimsiest of evidence 🤣 but the game is free! Who can complain about a game they didn't even have to pay for?
