About The Hunter's Journals - Blissful Ignorance

A desperate cry for help...can YOU solve the mystery?

YOU are a hunter; a man or woman of wealth and leisure who has turned their time to hunting the fiendish monsters that assail humanity. A report has arrived indicating that a monastery to the goddess of wisdom has fallen silent. You must brave the mountain to find answers, and hopefully return from the unforgiving peaks alive.

A choose your own adventure novel in which your choices and actions can lead you to glorious victory...or ignoble defeat. Explore an original story with three challenging game difficulties, unlock hidden lore to better understand the world you enter, and enjoy the artwork you discover in the gallery.

This independently produced novel features a dark soundtrack (with optional atmospherics) by Cryo Chamber, as well as over 40 unique page images to unlock.
The text of the game has also been recorded by a professional musician and story-teller, making it into an interactive audiobook. With no surprise mechanics to distract from the gameplay experience, Blissful Ignorance is an old-fashioned, spine-chilling steampunk tale you can enjoy time and time again.

Senscape recommends The Hunter’s Journal: Blissful Ignorance + Story + Characters + Graphics + Game length, many hours of replay value + It is a smart game, requires a mature vocabulary. “You are the hero”. Or not. It all depends on the choices you make. You receive an urgent dispatch for help lacking information about what you face; you are unable to properly prepare because of this lack of information so you are going in blind and must earn things as you progress. This is about choice and you may or may not succeed in building your strength and weaponry up by the time you meet your strongest foes beyond the village of Pilgrim’s Progress. The game mechanics and the world you enter are very clearly explained. Do take the time to read it all including the encyclopedia of monsters. Everything you need to know to play the game is explained. My daughter and I played this together because you see no violence, blood or gore; combat is done by throwing the dice. That is acceptable to me as a parent. There is an easy reload if you make a poor choice and end up, well, not alive as we did several times 😊. We do that on purpose to see the story arc. This is another well w…

The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything - Albert Einstein Grindwheel Games' text-based CYOA trilogy of The Hunter's Journals rolls onward with The Hunter hired to solve the mystery behind the afflictions occurring at a Monastery; a challenge that not only will test the Hunter's prowess but also will require scaling a dangerous Mountain in harsh weather conditions and a threat of Harpy's along the way. As with the earlier Journals, the game design cleverly mimics a book in its appearance and layout while also portraying glorious Lovecraftian artwork among its 'pages'. There is also the options of VA, music/sound effects and a Gallery complete with lore, unlocked artwork and a history of this 'Universe'. The writing style is once more beautifully descriptive and keeps the attention span of the Player by adding choice elements and challenges throughout the story progress. There are Achievements that compliment the three differing levels of difficulty that is kept consistent throughout this trilogy which I felt was important to keeping the familiarity and quick-play aspects while allowing the 3 varying Jo…

Similarly to the first 2 games, you follow a well written but difficult adventure, with danger in every corner bigger than ever before, a pretty unique story telling experience :) If you'd like to see what we're playing next with regular updates, or request to review a game, feel free to follow us at: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/35688508-Ember-Works-Reviews/
