About The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel
Lead a diverse class of students through a prestigious military academy while navigating an empire torn between warring social classes in this narrative-driven tactical RPG. Bond with your classmates to unlock powerful combat abilities, customize your magic system with the new ARCUS units, and uncover how your choices will reshape an entire nation's future.
Rean Schwarzer, like any other citizen of the Imperial Nation, is no stranger to these rising conflicts: the class system has been deeply embedded into the hearts of every Erebonian since the days of old. As a seventeen-year-old student preparing for his new life at Thors Military Academy, however, he notices that his crimson uniform differs from the standard ones issued to his peers—typically green for commoners, and white for nobles.
Enter, Class VII of Thors Military Academy. For the first time in the prestigious academy’s history, rank means nothing and skill means everything. With nine hand-picked students of various backgrounds and abilities, Rean included, Class VII readies itself to dive deep into the political quagmire that threatens not only them, but the Empire as a whole.

10/10 if you love jprg, this is for you1 found this helpful
This is my second review of the Trails series within my journey to fully play the entire series. (Yes, I reviewed CS II first. I haven't played Sky and the Crossbell duology, but I will do so now) For a quick TL:DR to people looking at the reviews to see if this game is worth it, I rate it a 9.5/10. Though, do play the Sky series and the Crossbell duology first. Definitely does enhance your experience considering the massive climax that CS I holds. Now onto the actual review! // obviously, spoilers for CS I and a little bit of CS II!! this review will be quite short, since it has been about two months since I played CS I. I didn't want to review it until I played CS II to finish the first half of the Erebonia arc. As my first entry into the Trails series it definitely made its mark into my heart. The character development was superb (well, apart from a few characters, notably Fie and Millum, whos development finally got to me in CS II). Since this was my first Trails game, I ended up not save scumming or applying mods to see all bonding events. I believe that may be the reason it kind of hurt my opinion on some characters. While I did not particularly enjoy the fact that I was …
Great game setting things up in the big old Erebonian Empire.
